Author Ownership
Authors retain ownership of their original work on NovelPedia. Posting a story does not transfer copyright to NovelPedia. As explained in our Terms of Use, authors grant NovelPedia a non-exclusive, revocable license to host, display, index, and promote content as needed to operate the platform. That license generally ends when the author removes the content, except for backups, legal compliance, dispute handling, fraud prevention, and similar operational records.
Reporting Copyright Infringement
If you are a copyright owner or an authorized agent and believe material on NovelPedia infringes your rights, send a written notice to copyright@novelpedia.net. This mailbox is NovelPedia's designated channel for copyright complaints, DMCA notices, and equivalent international takedown requests.
What To Include In A Notice
To help us review your request, your notice should be complete, accurate, and specific enough for us to identify the affected material.
- Your legal name and contact information.
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
- The specific NovelPedia URL or URLs where the allegedly infringing material appears.
- A good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, the owner's agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- Your electronic or physical signature.
Review And Takedown Process
NovelPedia may reject or disregard incomplete notices, notices that do not identify specific URLs, or notices sent outside the designated copyright channel. When we receive a valid notice, we may disable access to the material while the claim is reviewed. Infringing content may be removed, and affected accounts may receive warnings, restrictions, demonetization, suspension, or termination.
Counter-Notices
If your content was removed because of a copyright complaint and you believe the removal was caused by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to copyright@novelpedia.net.
Your counter-notice should include:
- Your legal name, contact information, and signature.
- The material that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction and process rules described in the NovelPedia Terms of Use.
If NovelPedia receives a valid counter-notice, we may forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not notify us that they have filed a court action within the applicable response window, we may restore the removed material.
Repeat Infringer Policy
NovelPedia takes repeat infringement seriously. Our Terms of Use describe a strike-based approach for copyright violations. Verified violations may result in content removal, formal warnings, temporary suspension, demonetization, permanent termination, or removal of associated content. NovelPedia may skip warning steps for severe, intentional, or commercial infringement.
False Or Abusive Claims
Copyright notices and counter-notices carry legal consequences. Do not submit a claim unless you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is unauthorized. False, misleading, abusive, or incomplete claims may be rejected and may expose the sender to legal responsibility.
Platform Role
NovelPedia is a hosting platform for user-generated fiction. We do not pre-screen all uploaded works for copyright issues, and authors remain responsible for ensuring they own or have permission to publish the material they upload. NovelPedia will respond to valid copyright notices and may remove material that creates legal risk.
