--------- When Soldret opened his eyes again, the first thing he noticed was that it was still night. The stars glittered above him, and the twin moons hung quietly in the sky. Not far from the medicinal bath, someone was sitting there. Soldret blinked. "…Senior Brother?" Zephyr looked up from the small creature sleeping on his shoulder. "Oh? You're awake earlier than expected." Soldret slowly sat upright. Unlike previous days, his body still hurt, but the pain wasn't unbearable. More importantly, he could actually move. He glanced at Zephyr and smiled. "Thank you." Zephyr blinked. "For what?" "The healing." Soldret touched his forehead. "The thing you did before I slept." Understanding flashed across Zephyr's face, and he laughed. "That? It wasn't a big deal. A simple trick." Soldret looked doubtful. "A simple trick shouldn't be able to do that." Zephyr shrugged. "It didn't make you stronger. It only helped your body heal faster. Nothing more." Soldret thought about it. That was true. He wasn't stronger physically, but being able to start each day without half his body falling apart was already an enormous advantage. "Still… thank you." Zephyr smiled and waved his hand dismissively. "No need. If Master finds out you're thanking me for interfering, he'll probably lock me in seclusion and never let me see the light of day again." Soldret immediately believed that. The image was surprisingly easy to imagine. Both of them laughed, and the atmosphere relaxed. --- After a while, Zephyr leaned forward. "So. How did today's training go?" Soldret's eyes brightened. "I can see them now." Zephyr nodded. "I know." "…You were watching?" "I was." Zephyr looked toward the stars. "I had nothing better to do." Soldret wasn't sure whether that was true, but he continued. "I can see the attacks. The movement. The preparation. The strike itself. But…" He looked at his own hands. "My body can't keep up with my thoughts. It feels like my eyes are ahead of everything else." Zephyr nodded immediately. "So that's what it was." "What do you mean?" Zephyr turned to him. "Seeing you fight today, I thought you just liked the feeling of being beaten up. Hence why you weren't dodging." Soldret frowned. "Who would enjoy the feeling of being beaten?" He raised his voice slightly. "Did you hear that, Medici?" Somewhere nearby, a faint snort could be heard. Zephyr laughed. "It is annoying." His expression became slightly more serious. "The way I see it, you're making the same mistake over and over again." "What mistake?" "You keep trying to dodge using big movements." Soldret paused. "How else am I supposed to dodge?" Zephyr shook his head. "You don't." He stood up and pointed at Soldret. "If someone punches your face…" He moved a finger. "Sometimes all you need is this much." The movement was tiny. Almost insignificant. Soldret frowned. "That wouldn't dodge anything." "It would." Zephyr smiled. "You're thinking about completely escaping the attack. I'm talking about moving just enough." To demonstrate, Zephyr picked up a stone and casually tossed it into the distance. For some reason, the stone curved through the air and came flying back toward him at the exact angle it had been thrown — straight toward his left eye. Soldret stared intently. He had many questions, most of them involving why the stone came back. Just before it reached him, Zephyr tilted his head slightly. Barely. The stone passed harmlessly beside his face. "See? I didn't need to move my entire head. And the same goes for you." Curious, Soldret picked up a nearby stone and threw it the same way. Nothing happened. It simply flew off into the darkness and didn't return. He stared after it for a second, feeling slightly foolish. Zephyr chuckled softly but didn't comment. --- The more Soldret listened, the more interested he became. Zephyr continued explaining how Radahn's attacks were simply too fast for big movements, and how Soldret's eyes were already doing the hard part. "Your body only needs
