————————————————————————— Episode 2.2: Tomdiana Jones and the Last Lunch Order. ————————————————————————— Tom’s astute discovery leads the newly appointed swashbucklers to an open plateau in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Humidity and sunlight conquer the atmosphere as the crew beam themselves into an empty patch of grass. While most of them are quick to fall to the symptoms of losing their wormhole virginity, a term Toby was very proud to coin, the rest take a moment to admire the deep, confident greenery before noticing the main attraction. “Yeah, the first beaming always sucks, but it gets better, trust me!” Denise explains to a violently puking Jane as she sifts through the bushes to set up her bulky laptop next to the metallic cliffside gate. Adam recognises her involvement and offers a cable. “I will warn you, this appears to be beyond ancient.” He examines the bulky door, unsure if the green tint is a symptom of environmental exposure or simply the material’s natural hue. “What little the GIV has on this place tells me it belongs to an era predating the alliance themselves.” As much as he hates to admit it, Marcus’ lunacy has led him to a truly fascinating conundrum. Denise uses the cable she was offered alongside a bulky adapter Adam gifted her to open up a terminal on her computer. “I’m getting nothing.” She announces, attracting little concern from her archaeological partner. “Yeah, I doubt these guys were that careless with their computers.” Adam jokes as he fidgets with the tablet attached to the right side of the mysterious entrance. After exercising his limited education on subverting technological interfaces, he turns to Denise. “The adaptor should translate the code and data into something your computer could process and display.” “Once you crack the code, could you please give us a dramatic ‘we’re in’.” Mariam requests as she emerges from the expansive jungle surrounding the site. Tom follows her, dressed in a light brown outfit and donning a broad, iconic hat on his bed of shaggy hair. “I can’t believe you actually got him to do it.” Toby congratulates his friend, still wiping last night’s dinner from his mouth. “Yeah, I thought I’d try to make the most of the ordeal and convince our resident action hero to finally embrace his true calling.” Tomdiana Jones tips his hat to the introduction. Mariam’s giddy fangirling is cut short by seeing her long-time obsession walk up to the expedition, hand in hand with an unpleasant reminder of why they’re here in the first place. Denise leans towards her laptop as the previously blank terminal comes to life with a crudely translated set of technobabble. She looks at the screen, then Adam. “Really, typescript?” She states with deadpan disappointment. “Code translators are hard to get, especially ones that include human programming languages,” Adam explains. “I already told you that ages ago, but you insisted on me getting you one for our roomieversery.” The final detail leaves the spectators chuckling to themselves. “A one-week roomieversery?” Tom teases, only slightly threatened by the growing bond. “Yes! A one week roomieversey! And now Adam’s beautiful display of our friendship will let us unveil the mysteries of the cosmos.” She defensively blurts out, biting her tongue as she tries to make sense of the software puzzle before her. “I just need to find the answer in fucking typescript.” After a final desperate command input, Denise turns her computer around to show a display of what appeared to be essential identification data. “We’re in.” Mariam squeals at the announcement. Adam takes a quick glance at the images and gets to work. Turning back to the structure's tablet screen, he morphs his hand into an odd soapy goop. Keeping a strong eye on Denise’s screen, he perfectly imitates the bio-signature she dug up from the monument’s servers. There’s a beep, then a shift. “Wow, they really didn’t Xentiviac-proof this place, huh?” Denise’s playful observation strikes te
