In a forest, far out in the country, away from any village or city, natures sounds are interrupted by the galloping of horses and the clanking of steel. “There it is! Don’t let it get away!” The clamoring of knights and horses grows louder as they chase the black haired child in the forest, the trees slowing down the knights and horses are the only things on the child’s side. ‘ Huff huff huff, why are they chasing me? I only wanted to live among the creations under the open sky!’ The green leaves of the surrounding trees blur by as the black haired child continues to run, surprisingly outpacing even the horses ridden by the knights. This chase continues on for hours, as the last rays of the sun pierce through the forest canopy, the knights having reached the limit of their stamina, curse as they retreat. “No ordinary huff child can run huff at such a fucking pace for so long” “That’s a demon’s spawn for divines sake! There is no other explanation!” As their voices get further away, the black haired child slows to a stop, she stares at the darkening sky, filled with wonder and confusion. ‘ This world…It’s truly filled with so much, but why is it all hostility? Am I really such a terrible being?’ The black haired child walked up to a stone at the edge of a clearing and sits down, she stares into the sky, only a faint red halo remains of the sun while a bright white full moon rises opposite to it. ‘ Hahh, this world is truly wonderous. How can such a beautiful sight be created by completely opposing entities?’ She looks around, little critters can be seen darting around, squirrels and chipmunks climbing their tree’s, foxes making their way to their burrows and birds of all colors and sizes flying to their nests. ‘ So many different creatures, even in the stillness of the night, life still continues’ As the black haired child takes in her surroundings, she see a light in the distance through the trees. As she make her way towards it, the sound of chatting and laughter can be heard. “—and his face was so flushed! After boasting so much about how much he can drink, he barely lasted after two mugs! can you believe that?! Hahaha!!” “Oh shadaap, will ya Jayson? The boy was just tryna impress that cute waitress girl! Hahaha!” “And failed! Hahaha! You got to try harder next time Benton!” “Oh just stop with the teasing both of you! Look at the poor boy! He must’ve been so embarrassed!” “Always acting as the doting party leader to the newbies huh, Adela.” Adela grabs and hugs Benton, whose face has become completely flushed from embarrassment “This one is especially cute though! I ca-!” snap “Who’s there!” “Show yourself!” The party of four quickly get up and grab their weapons, the black haired child, who accidently stepped on a twig, comes into view “ Ah, I’m sorry about that, I didn’t mean to startle you guys, I just saw the fire from some distance away and thought I would drop by ” Seeing that it’s just a child, the party relaxes a bit, they sheathe their weapons and sit back down. “Oh, well then come on and join us! The night is pretty dangerous you know, especially around these parts” “Yeah! I heard the Golden Mane Knights were chasing some wanted criminal in this forest, I wonder what he did to be chased by one of the strongest knight orders in the empire.” The black haired child takes a seat on one of the logs near the campfire, the orange and red flames dance in front of her eyes. The heat radiating off of the flames washes over her skin, slightly relaxing the child’s muscles. “ So this is fire…its heat is similar to that of the sun’s rays, it brings…comfort? is that what this feeling is called?” While the child is lost in thought, the party of four who invited her over continue to chat and bicker about the runaway wanted criminal. “Apparently the criminal has black hair and eyes and marble skin.” “So a true beauty, eh?” “Get your head out of the gutter Melvin!” Adela smacks the back of Melvin’s head hard, he lets out a short yelp
