To wander or settle, that is an important decision for a person's progression. Neither is wrong or right, but rather it depends on the person. Some will benefit greatly from having a settlement around them for support, whilst others may feel cloistered and find their progression limited by the demands of the society around them. ` Tolloric Tinnis, Leader of the Dwarven Enclave Laurie’s first feeling on seeing his position at the top of Levelling Ladder was utter surprise, but when he thought back, it made a twisted sort of sense. Levelling had come very slowly at first. Killing all those spiders had been laborious, a proper grind. If he hadn’t killed the Spider Matriarch, and Pyro’s band, he would likely still be at Level 2 - maybe Level 3. So, this is how they knew the name Puck. He must have shot up the ladder as a result of his encounters over the last few days. No wonder I made an impression. They probably wondered what the hell I was doing out there . Laurie closed the Levelling Ladder and opened up the Available Quests screen in its place. Available Quests: Stinger Stockpile: Collect 10 Scale Hide stingers and return them to Hope’s Dream. Rewards: Basic supplies of your choice, 3 Basic potions of your choice. Boarling Bash: Collect 10 intact Boarling Charger tusks and return them to Hope’s Dream. Rewards: Basic supplies of your choice, 3 Basic potions of your choice. More quests may become available at different times of day and as the general level of the settlement increases. Interesting. At this basic level it seemed that all the quests were ‘kill and collect’ style. I wonder what they will change into as this place progresses ? The GM screen didn’t mention anything about what experience would be gained for completing the quests, and he had no idea what counted as ‘basic supplies’. Laurie noticed that Dragonheart was heading back over to him, with the archer in tow, so he accepted the two quests and closed the screen. “Thank you, mysterious cloak being,” he muttered under his breath, and stepped away, just as Dragonheart and his companion arrived. “Puck, this is Eostra,” Dragonheart gestured at the archer standing beside him. She was watching Laurie with suspicious brown eyes and stood nearly as tall as Dragonheart, her arms crossed across her chest. She wasn’t frowning, but she didn’t look pleased to be meeting him, either. “Eostra was the first person I met up with after this all began,” Dragonheart continued, his easy smile a counterpart to Eostra’s severe expression. “She’s become my number two. Nothing gets past her, and she’s damned talented with that bow to boot.” Laurie nodded at her. “Hello, nice to meet you,” he said, awkwardly. Eostra looked him up and down and nodded back to him. Her expression didn’t change. There was an awkward silence which Dragonheart seemed unable to let linger. “Right, well, yes, I guess before we discuss logistics any further, I need to ask the big question! Puck, would you join us here at Hope’s Dream? We want to create a place where those that need protecting are supported, and where those that can and want to fight will flourish. There are many benefits to joining us.” Dragonheart spoke passionately, and it looked to Laurie to be genuine. He seemed to be genuinely invested in the settlement, and its people - his people. “It's not been easy, so far,” Dragonheart continued. “And I'm sure we will face much worse as we go on, but we are stronger together. Having you with us would be a great boon, Puck. For us, and for you.” Laurie gave the offer some thought. Do I want to join? What would that even mean? And what would it mean if I said no? He felt a sudden shiver of doubt. Would they even let me leave? Dragonheart has invited you to join the Hope’s Dream faction. You can currently only be in one faction. Do you accept the invitation? Y/N Behind his mask of shadow, Laurie frowned. You can currently only be in one faction. Does that mean someone could eventually be in multiple faction
