Ellowen came out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his waist. His body was already dry as he walked toward Linda. "Done in there. You can go now." Linda shook her head. "Nope. I'm not taking a bath right now." She walked up to him with a smug look on her face. "You stink. You're dirty. Go take a bath, you nasty girl." Ellowen started rummaging through the cabinets for clothes. Linda's eyebrow twitched at his comment. "Okay, first of all, I have my reasons," she said, crossing her arms. "We don't have any clothes to wear. We basically showed up here uninvited, remember?" She gestured to herself, then to him. "So I'm not walking around in just a towel. And I don't have money to buy clothes. I'm pretty sure you don't either. We're broke." Ellowen raised an eyebrow, pausing as he scratched his chin. Then a cheeky smile spread across his face. "Well… Davalin has money. He's the mayor. I'm sure he's got plenty. And if his guests are walking around dirty and half-dressed, that's kind of his fault for not providing, right?" He laughed under his breath. "Isn't that kind of extortion?" Linda asked, raising an eyebrow. "Threatening his image and all?" "Relax. He's the one who told us to clean up anyway." Linda shrugged, a small smile forming. Ellowen threw his dirty clothes back on, and the two of them left the room. After asking a few maids where Davalin's room was, they made their way down the hall. As they approached the door, they heard voices inside. They cracked it open slightly to peek in. "Yes, the golem is dead… but I still feel empty." Zyphira walked over and sat down in a chair. "Well… you got your revenge. That's something, right?" Davalin said gently as he poured her a glass of wine. Zyphira traced the rim of the cup, letting out a quiet sigh. "That would be good… but my family is still dead. They're gone. I can't see them. I can't touch them." She gave a soft, hollow giggle. "All that I prepared for my child… for his future… and now it'll never go to him." A single tear rolled down her cheek before she inhaled and downed the drink. "From what you told me—about the mage city and everything—it sounds coordinated," Davalin said, his tail swaying slowly behind him. "Someone's been watching you. They waited until you left home. Same with the mage city." He sighed. "I think that's enough heavy talk for today… don't you two?" He looked toward the door. Linda and Ellowen froze before awkwardly stepping inside. Linda looked nervous. "Sorry, we didn't mean to, uh… spy. We just wanted to ask something." Zyphira looked at her and smiled warmly. "It's fine. So what did you want?" "Well…" Ellowen rubbed the back of his neck. "We're kind of broke. We were wondering if you could maybe buy us some clothes. Or lend us some money. Something like that." Zyphira laughed softly. "Well, lucky for you two, I'm rich to the bones. Let's go shopping. It's boring being locked up in here all the time." She paused, looking Linda up and down before sticking out her tongue playfully. "You look dirty, girl. Go take a bath. You can borrow one of my dresses until we buy you your own." Then she tilted her head slightly. "Actually… why don't you two work here? You'd get paid and have your own rooms. We could use more people who know how to fight—especially an angel and a mermaid." Linda's eyes widened. "H-how did you know?" Zyphira shrugged with a soft giggle. "Dragons can see and sense things better than most." She stood up, stretching, then grabbed Linda's hand and began leading her out. "You help Ellowen with clothes. Let him borrow a few of yours until he gets his own." She flashed a smile at him before disappearing down the hall with Linda, leaving Ellowen and Davalin alone. "Looks like it's just us, huh?" Davalin chuckled. He walked to a nearby closet and began rummaging through it. After a moment, he pulled out a light blue open jacket lined with gold along the sides, a white shirt, and black cargo shorts. He handed them to Ellowen. "You'r
