Chapter 1 New world A cold gust of wind brushed the cheek of the boy lying on the clearing. He slowly came to, and the smell of spring grass and damp earth made him stand up. He abruptly opened his eyes. He saw in front of him a forest and the sky – clearer than the one he remembered. For a few seconds it seemed that some dark tentacle was returning under the tree crowns. But he quickly forgot about it, because... After a moment of shock, pain hit him in the neck area and a wave of visions: images, voices, fragments of memories that he did not own, yet with full force pressed onto his consciousness. There was a poor boy named Liang Li – a fifteen-year-old son of a pair of farmers from a nearby village. However, these were not his memories. He knew very well that his name was Hong Tin. A few minutes ago he was lying down, ready to fall asleep... and now he was suddenly here, in the middle of a clearing, God knows where, in the body of some kid. As soon as he realized the strange change of surroundings, his heart started beating faster, his breathing sped up sharply. Only one word echoed in his head: — Where am I... — he tried to mumble, but his voice got stuck in his throat. Shock was replaced by a flood of thoughts — what is happening, where am I, what is this forest. One of the thoughts that appeared in his head was transmigration. This particularly frightened the boy. Despite not having a perfect life, he loved it, especially his loved ones. He kept repeating to himself: — It’s just a dream. Yet opposite concepts forced their way into his mind: — What if it really is another world? Will I ever see my parents again? His breathing sped up, and his eyes turned red. Suddenly the boy’s shadow moved, and his thoughts vanished. He did not even notice when he looked at the cloudless blue sky and decided to go to the “home” of the original owner of the body. He would figure out the rest along the way. The walk took a few minutes. Now, with a strange clarity of mind, he formed a basic plan of action. He decided that the best would be to pretend to be Liang Li. To learn as much as possible about the new world and eventually find a way to return. The beginning was supposed to be searching through the memories of the new vessel. Among many strange things, the most surprising was the existence of a phenomenon called cultivation of body and soul. Unfortunately, he did not know the details. Liang Li himself had only recently started his education on this topic. Ten minutes passed in the blink of an eye and in front of his eyes appeared the entrance to a small village in the middle of the forest. However, he encountered a problem. One of the guards standing watch at the gate approached him. — Thank the gods, Liang Li. We were looking for you, kid. Where have you been? Then Hong Tin remembered a strange vision in which his new body was lying with its head twisted one hundred and eighty degrees. He thought then: — So it really happened to the owner of this body... Rest in peace, kid. A fabricated expression appeared on his face, which the guard immediately reacted to with a light touch, pulling the boy out of his thoughts. — Answer me, where? Many people were worried. We even started a search. Cornered, he quickly made up a lie on the spot. He did not want to talk with people of this world. It was an extremely strange, even overwhelming feeling. — Ah, sorry. I was in the forest taking a walk, but it seems I tripped and fainted. Sorry that everyone had to worry. — You should apologize not to me, but to your mother and father. They are probably dying of worry right now. Wait... you fainted? And why are you suddenly so formal? — Are you feeling unwell? Should I take you to the hospital? — the guard asked with an expression of concern. — No, thank you. Everything is fine. I should go to my parents. I’m not hurt. — If you say so, then go quickly to your house and tell your parents that you’ve been found. I will inform the elders to stop the search.
