Saldemor looked around the table as no one made a sound. “Poisoned heart huh? I like the sound of that,” Riyo said with a smile as he rested his chins atop his forearms on the back of Silvia’s chair. He looked at him with a grin and asked, “So, let us hear your planning. Who do you think should go? Who do you think should stay? As the head of the Guilds’ Association, you’ve probably got a pretty solid roster in that head of yours.” Saldemor looked at him and nodded. He replied, “Since we don’t know anything about the Forsaken Deep other than it is dangerous times dangerous, the members who would participate should all be experts among experts, with the most versatile skillset possible. That being said...” He looked at everyone on the table and then turned to Varco. He said, “Varco is going to be my first pick. He has the most bizarre Series amongst all of us and as you already know, it’s mighty great for stealth, movement and discreetness. For an unknown like the Forsaken Deep, being clever is far more important than having brute force. Any objections?” Murmurs spread around the table as everyone discussed amongst themselves. No objections came forward. Saldemor nodded as he continued, “Then, onto the next person,” he turned and looked at the person who egged him on. “My second choice would be Riyo. A man who’s fast, dangerous and sharp. Someone who’s quick on his feet and his blade. His Series allows for swift attacks so any surprises can be quickly dealt with. It’s a good match which can counter the unpredictability of the Forsaken Deep.” “Haha! You make me blush,” Riyo said with a laugh as he let out a smile. Saldemor paid him no heed as he asked, “Any objections?” The table murmured once again before a hand was raised. It was the short man with a mustache who had glared at Varco. “Yes, Gullivan?” Frowning, Gullivan stroked his mustache and said, “That’s two people from Resting Death. Shouldn’t we have better representation? At this rate, all the fame will go to them!” he slammed his fists on the table. Some people began to chatter as they showed their agreement with his statement. A man with curly green hair and a thin beard said as he leaned into his chair, “If you’re going to pick Riyo might as well pick Silvia and Rex and shove the entirety of Resting Death there. Less competition for us that way,” he cackle as he adjusted his vintage black tailcoat. His emerald eyes gave Silvia a side glance. Silvia snickered as her eyes focused into a glare. Running a finger through her silver hair, she smiled wildly and said, “Oh? How funny Ezeld. Even if Resting Death is gone, it’ll be a long while till your Haunted Orchard can claim the top spot. Do you think can outdo us so easily? Our numbers stand very tall mind you,” her eyes narrowed in amusement. She then sighed and added, “And besides,” “I am no longer an actual member of Resting Death,” Varco said as he finished her sentence. He continued, “I left years ago don’t you remember? Right now, I’m more of an honorary member than anything. The reason I’m here is not because I want to take Resting Death even higher, that’s their problem now. It’s just that I’m a bit worried about the future of Ekad and would like to help stabilize it, but most importantly, His smile widened as a ghastly aura emanated out from him and enveloped the whole meeting room. He stroked his stubble as he added in an amused tone, “It sounds like it’ll be quite fun.” For a moment, everyone went quiet. Ezeld was taken aback as his face scrunched up. He muttered under his breath, “I swear, everyone in that guild’s got a screw loose.” Saldemor looked at everyone and coughed into his fist. He said, “The guild which the members of the expedition will be from is not the issue here. I am assigning personnel based on their skillset, not their affiliation. If you have any problem with that you can walk out. Now, any ‘real’ objections?” he said as he looked at everyone with piercing eyes. Nobody said a word. Saldemor n
