Rays of sunlight pierced through the dense layer of clouds and unto the majestic garden. The birds chirped their melodies and the flowers basked in their beauty. The wilting flower cackled and waited, her twisted root shifting underneath. Specks of yellow light conjoined together at the top of the raised platform in an abandoned chapel. The ground beneath shook as a large glowing sphere took shape. Yuliana undid the clasps of her mask as she walked out of the sphere. Smiling, she let out an audible breath and stretched her back. “So, how did you like it? Our little adventure?” Blaine said with a giggle as she came out from beside her. She undid her mask as well and adjusted her gold rimmed glasses. “It was quite fun. I met some new people, made a nice new friend, the all-so-jolly Ms. Leopard. Though it was a shame she had to suddenly become busy and leave us. And just after she got done with a mission at that,” Yuliana said as she lamented. Blain sighed as she said, “She is probably one of the most busiest persons in the entire organisation other than the leader. Always away somewhere on some mission, especially after she became a Stage 2 Artisan.” “Mhm. But that just means she’s hardworking and very reliable, to the point of always being sought out, which is something I can’t help but admire.” Blaine nodded in affirmation. “True that. She’s a very respectable woman. Working so hard yet always happy.” “Yup,” Yuliana nodded as well. She added, “Also, I got to know the answers to some of the questions that had been bugging me for some time. So overall, I’d say it was a really fruitful trip.” She turned towards Blaine and said with a huge smile, “Thanks a lot, Blaine!” Blaine smiled too as her eyes narrowed. She replied, “Yeah, you’re welcome, Yuli.” Yuliana nodded and turned her head towards the broken window of the chapel. A bright orange sky spread above their heads as a faint purple seeped out. Swirling clouds like the strokes of a paintbrush overwrote the orange and violet with their fluffy patterns. Evening light shone down, once again marking the end of their day. “It’s about time we head home,” Blaine said as she let out a breath. “How sad, and I wanted to spend some more time together with you and Ms. Leopard.” Yuliana chuckled. “Me too. Well, there’s always tomorrow.” Blaine put a finger on her chin and said, “Hmm... I might be busy tomorrow so I cannot come with you. I’ll probably not be able to attend our reading session either. It’s a bit of a bummer, but I’m free the day after though. So how about then?” “Alright then. I have no qualms with that.” “Good! It’s decided then,” she said as she rummaged through her beige purse and brought out a silver hairpin with an upside down maple leaf. “Here, you can have this. A token of our friendship! From one member to an another,” Blaine said and gently placed down the pin on Yuliana’s hand. Yuliana’s eyebrows widened in surprise. She brought it up to her eye level and looked at it under the evening light that drifted in from the broken window. With a gleaming silver sheen and an intricate design consisting of winding veins, the hairpin was nothing short of a wonderful piece of craftsmanship. “It’s so beautiful... Thanks you so much!” Yuliana exclaimed with a smile as she hurriedly tried to place the pin on her hair but failed to, pricking herself in the process. “Ouch!” she let out as she grimaced in pain. “Haha! C’mon, let me do it for you,” Blaine laughed and took a step forward. She took the pin from Yuliana’s hand and carefully adjusted it onto her hair. “There,” she said as she clapped her hands. She reached into her purse once again and brought out a small mirror, handing it to Yuliana. Yuliana accepted it and looked at her reflection. Her voluminous black hair swayed as a glistening silver shone atop her temple. The shining colour of the upside down maple leaf matched well with her pale complexion and contrasting red eyes. Her smile widened as she bobbed her head up and
