Gray clouds swarmed over the majestic garden as a light drizzle enveloped it. The birds and the flowers soaked under the soft drips of water. The wilting flower cackled, pulling her twisted root closer to herself. Yuliana sighed as she couldn’t help but feel melancholic. Evander was gone, and probably wouldn’t return for a while. C’mon Yuli, Cheer up! You still have work to do! You need to train and become strong enough so that next time, you could accompany him! She said as she resolved herself. But first, book club with Blaine! She thought as she chuckled. She walked her way to their usual cafe, The Crown Emerald Dine, and took a seat in an inconspicuous corner. She ordered a small coffee and sipped on it leisurely in the wait for her friend. In the meantime, she played with her red scarf. She wore a black dress similar to the one she wore the first time they had met but this one had red laces and floral fishnets designs around the collarbone area and the sleeves. The chime of the hanging bell by the door the rang out as a lady in gold brimmed glasses entered the establishment. She wore a beautiful dark red dress with a white fuzzy cardigan on top. Around her neck was a orange scarf with a white gridded pattern. Her fashion senses are always so top notch... Yuliana thought as she looked at her with a womanly admiration. Blaine looked around as her eyes met Yuliana’s. They lit up like shimmering glass as a huge smile spread across her face. She waved at her and took a seat on the chair opposite to her. “Heya! How have you been? Did the doctor leave?” “Yeah, and it’ll probably be a while till he comes back,” she answered with a sigh as a tinge of sadness leaked out. Blaine’s wide smile became softer as she said, “It happens. The people who you are close to you will one day inevitably leave you. No matter how hard you try to prevent it, it’s like there’s some law of the universe which just so separates you,” she said as her eyes turned melancholic as well. Yuliana looked at Blaine in surprise. Such sentimental topics didn’t suit the usual cheery Blaine. Her sapphire blue glistened as she said with a kind smile, “But the difference is whether they return or not. Tell me, do you trust him?” Yuliana replied without a shred of doubt, “Yes, I do.” Blaine nodded. “Then wait. You’ll find your patience to be a sugar that just sweetens the next time you meet. My husband would frequently go away when he had to do work out of town and in the beginning, I’d be sad as well, but soon, I realised that the wait made our reunion all the more merrier. So, don’t be depressed, cheer up! So that when he comes back, you can show him just how happy you are!” she said as she shot her arm upwards with a big grin on her face. Yuliana couldn’t help but laugh. She smiled and said, “Alright, I’ll do as you say. I am not so clingy that I can’t even wait!” “Atta girl” Blaine nodded as she put her large black leather purse atop the table. She called the waiter and ordered some sweets for the two of them. She rummaged into her purse and brought out their agenda for today. “Tada!” she said as she held an old-looking, worn out book with a green bird on the cover. Yuliana’s eyes narrowed as she read the title, “‘The Epic of Zider’ is it?” Blaine nodded. “Yup! It’s a verryyy old book, adapting one of the first tales to ever exist! It tells the story of lone but immortal woman, Enna, hearing about the stories of an otherworldly traveller called Zider. It’s a fantastical, heart gripping story about this woman who has lived so much yet so little and this man who has lived so little yet so much. The writer is unknown, but I have heard that the origin of this story predates even the 1 st Anarchy Era!” Yuliana’s eyes widened in surprise. She didn’t know much about history but she did love to hear stories. When asked about the history of the world prior to the 8 th Anarchy Era, everyone’s answers were different and varied. Other than the fact that their current time was
