Varco and the rest walked out of the now demolished forest. “Man, that was pretty entertaining,” Riyo said as he chuckled with a grin on his face. “It feels good to stretch your ichor sometimes,” Wygor commented as he cracked his fingers with the cane still in his hand. “I got some fruitful data too. Nightmare Ents are a rare and formidable creature, so being able to examine one up close and even take note of their anatomy is a thing which hadn’t been done before. Before now that is. Hehe, those at the academy would be so jealous,” Sariel said as she adjusted her pointed hat and cackled mischievously. With the Ent forest now gone, a desolate plain greeted their eyes. As far as the eyes could see, there was nothing but the ground beneath their feet. An empty expanse without a single sign of life. Only the greyish brown dirt was visible, stretching out beyond the horizon. “Hmm, isn’t this is a bit too much distance for us to cover just by foot?” Riyo said as he looked into the distance with his eyes narrowed. “I believe so. It’d be a hassle and a considerable waste of time if we were to simply keep walking forward. As Artisans, I believe we can utilise some better methods,” Zane as said as he gave Wygor a glance. Wygor nodded with a laugh. “You’re right, why walk when you can” he snapped his fingers as the ground beneath their feet shifted with a ripple and a circular mirror with an ornate frame came to be “teleport instead.” Wygor pointed his cane forward. A harmless blue flame spawned beneath all of their feet except Wygor as their figures vanished with a short burst of white light and reappeared hundreds of meters of away. Romina put a hand on her chin as she looked around, “Hmm, pretty useful.” “Oh? Was I able to impress you this time?” “Somewhat,” Romina agreed. “Lucky me then,” Wygor smiled before another mirror appeared beneath their feet. Following the same procedure, the Deep Expedition team repeatedly teleported forward. Then, after a few more teleports, A large stone outpost at the far end of their vision could be seen. “It looks we’ve arrived at our destination,” Varco announced with a smile as he walked forward with firm steps. After a minute of walking and the grey outpost came ever closer, “BOOOSSS!!!” A voice screamed out, zooming towards Varco with a terrifying speed. A smile spread across Varco’s face. The figure crashed into the ground in front of Varco and the others, sending dust and pieces of debris flying. Varco held his arm up to his face as he deflected the scattering dust. “It’s been so long!!” A womanly voice exclaimed as she burst out of the dust in an attempt to hug Varco. Varco chuckled and embraced her. He said, “It’s nice to meet you after so long, Nessia.” “Hehe, you can say that again,” Nessia replied with a giggle as she tightened her hug with a big smile on her face. After a moment, she let go and stepped back as her brown eyes glanced over everyone. She wore an elegant silver and black robe with a grey belt wrapped around her waist. Her voluminous black hair was tied into a single braid that rested on her shoulder and fell to her chest. With a gentle smile on her beige face, she gave a elegant bow to the members of the Deep Expedition. “Greetings, brave warriors. My name is Nessia Marriot. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Zane nodded his head. He propped up his glasses and asked, “So you are the so called patrol?” “I indeed am,” Nessia replied as she stood straight. “Is it only you here, or are there more personnel?” “It’s me, and a few others, including a friend of mine’s. She lost a bet and can’t leave the outpost so she’s sulking inside,” Nessia said with a mischievous giggle. Zane’s brow furrowed. He asked, “A few people? Isn’t this the outpost most closest to the Forsaken Deep. Shouldn’t there be more people assigned here?” “Not really. Even if this outpost is quite close to the Forsaken Deep, it doesn’t mean we have beasts escaping out from the inside. So far, we haven’t enco
