Varco hummed as he teleported once again, arriving at a different location in Ekad. “I’ve checked Nurith, and it’s still the same. So the rest of the Outer Ring shouldn’t be much different. Now, let’s see how the Middle Ring fairs,” He said as he rose out of the shadow of a broken door leaning beside a dumpster. Way Markers won’t work if they are broken, but what if they were made to look broken to begin with? Varco thought with a smile as he recalled his thought process when making it. He stepped out of the alley between the two buildings and looked around. “Hmm... no people here. Maybe strolling around at midnight’s not such a bright idea,” he chuckled and walked to his left. The buildings here were mostly the same as those in Nurith, just more darker and less congested. The haze here was far more thicker. Barely anything was visible beyond two meters of sight. The Middle Ring was an area where Corbeast attacks were commonplace. So the people who lived here were usually involved with the occupation of either hunting Corbeasts, or supporting those who did. Varco walked through the veiled night, his steps the only sound in this lifeless street. Soon, he arrived in front a large gothic, four storey building. It stood out amongst all the other structures here. A deep black colour darker than obsidian and two tall steeples that shot above the haze, it wore the swirling mists of Ekad like a cloak around its great shoulders. And above it all hung a great banner, moving gently with the wind. It was a banner that carried the symbol of a skull with bones coming out of it but with a pair of downward curving eyes. Varco smiled as he looked up and adjusted his hat with a nostalgic expression. His necklace glimmered as it hung with the same symbol. He had arrived in front of the headquarters of Resting Death. He knocked on the grand door with his knuckles. It was deep at midnight, so most of the residents were asleep. But Varco worried not, For the Resting Death never slept. The door soon opened as a bright light escaped out of it, lighting up the area around Varco. “I expected you to come, but not this quick,” A woman’s voice rang out as she stepped out of the door. She had pale skin, a beautifully mature face and long silver hair that glistened like the moonlight. Wearing a calm expression, her deep grey eyes flickered as they spoke of her profound experience. Her long grey coat with shining embellishments trailed behind her as she stepped forward with a firm gait. Wrapped around her neck was a giant white salamander with cobalt blue eyes and spots that hissed at Varco. “Did you find yourself a new pet, Silvia?” Varco asked as he looked at the salamander with intrigue. “We meet after so long and the first thing you ask is about my salamander? Not even a ‘it’s been a while’ or a ‘how are you?’ You’re worse than Cee in that regard,” Silvia said with a frown as she shrugged her shoulders. But then smiled and added, “But since she’s so adorable, I’ll give you a pass,” she gave out her fist for Varco. “Glad to have you back, Boss,” she said with a big grin. Varco chuckled and met her wrist his own, forming a diagonal cross in the Resting Death’s signature handshake. “My apologies, how have you been?” he said this time. Silvia nodded and replied, “I’m good, but man, things have become wild in the Inner Ring,” she scratched her beautiful hair with a frown “The few stations we had there have all been ravaged by high level Corbeasts in a matter of a day. Something must’ve happened deep inside for all those heavily territorial monsters to come rushing out.” Varco nodded as his smile faded. He said in a low voice, “So that means... “Something in the Forsaken Deep must be moving.” Silvia nodded gravely. “Yeah, that’s what we thought as well. I at first wanted to make a team by ourselves and go check out the disturbance but then Cee popped out and recommended that we give you a knock and see if you’d be interested or not.” “Cee was here?” Varco aske
