Chapter 63 I sat completely still as the cold steel of Jeon’s weapon touched lightly against my skin. It wasn’t hurting me, but I knew that could change instantly. “Ahn, what are you doing?” Fredricka suddenly stood from the table. Others followed suit, mostly in an attempt to see what was going on. “How did you know?” Jeon’s breath almost tickled the back of my neck as he asked the question. I clicked my tongue and folded my napkin before setting it on the table next to my now empty plate. Was I risking pissing off the guy who held a blade to my throat, yes. But I figured that showing fear and weakness was perhaps not the best way to respond to who might be the most proficient assassin in the world. So, showing courtesy might simply be my best option. “I won’t reveal anything if that’s what you are worried about. Stealth user to stealth user, of course. There’s honor in one’s word, yes?” The blade pressed a fraction harder, and I felt a thin line cut the very top couple layers of my skin, but nothing deep enough to draw blood, yet. Everyone’s eyes were on us now, and I knew that would annoy Jeon even more than just me having figured out his skill. Jeon, Ahn. Also known as ‘AJ’, or ‘The Endless Blade’, Korea’s Top S-Ranked Hunter. Really he was Legendary tier, but Korea insisted on using the alpha-numerical ranking. Regardless, he was no one to mess about with, and if he wanted I was sure he could kill me swiftly enough by removing my head. One couldn’t really survive that, myself included, despite my high vitality. Norton was seated directly to my left, which made my chance of survival much higher, but not guaranteed. “Jeon, what are you doing?” Barry was standing now as well, his hand held out to the man, but not daring to touch him. There was a moment of stillness in the room, then Jeon vanished his weapon away into his inventory and stepped back. I smiled at that, and leaned back in my chair. “You are more skilled than even the reports say, Jeon, Ahn. May I just call you Ahn?” I said without looking behind myself. “AJ… You are more skilled than the reports say as well, Adam Pierce. May I just call you Adam?” He replied. Still not turning to look behind myself, I nodded. “What are formalities among friends and comrades?” “Thank you, for your future discretion.” “Thank you, AJ, for the pointers.” With that, the Hunter casually walked back around the table and took his seat at the opposite end across from General Nieve, where the American officer looked at him as if seeing him for the very first time. Everyone did, in fact. Ahn simply continued to fork the small bit of cake in front of him, ignoring everyone’s stares. Eventually they all settled back into their seats and did their best to return to normal conversation. Barry of course leaned close to me right after. “What happened? How did you know?” he asked. I didn’t have to look over to know that AJ was watching me. I merely shook my head. “I can’t tell you, sorry. Stealth User’s honor, remember?” Barry grinned and rolled his eyes, but he didn’t push it. A small pulse, a tingle of energy moved through my body as Norton worked a small healing spell into me. I wasn’t actually hurt, but I had learned some time ago that nothing would stop Norton from trying to help someone if he felt like he wanted or needed to. So I simply let him. The tiny bare cut on my neck closed up in a flash. Though, despite my calm outer composure and my nonchalance, I worried internally. AJ moved very fast, but that was the problem, and why I was worried. My new stolen ability normally activated on its own, whether if I know the attack is coming or not. So the fact AJ’s blade made it to my neck, no matter how fast the Legendary Hunter might have moved, was an issue. My ability should have stopped it, or at least slowed it down. But it didn’t, as far as I could tell, it didn’t even activate. Which was interesting all its own. It was as if he were cutting through the defenses entirely, slipping his blad
