I'm armed with my Powerblade and sidearm. I'm taking this city down with everything I got. But my trusted Raygun is missing. Only the rich benefit from the endless stream of broken dreams. No one is safe. No one will ever be safe. Corruption is our only reality here. I know. Because I used to play that game. I carried the star on my chest. I was the Sheriff. And deeply corrupted as everyone else. But no more. It's time to wake up. I know them all. And how to get to them. No more dreaming. I'm a bounty hunter now. After a priceless bounty. I will not survive, but it doesn't matter. They have my daughter. I face the Mayor's office. To get intel. My former deputies block my path. They don't want to wake up. They want to be in the dream. And now they want me dead. The house they're protecting will be their coffin. They know I'm faster than them. They know I'm deadlier than them. They see I'm missing my Raygun. They gamble that I can't take them all at once. I don't gamble. I draw first. … I face the Mayor. "Take it easy now, John." I stare at him, saying nothing. I'm Alpha now. He shakes in panic. "Please come to your senses," he begs as he steps back from his desk. I slowly aim my gun at him. He begs for his life. "I give you everything, John, name it! I give you 10 million credits." He offers me more bribes than he can deliver. "Please, John." I don't care. I want names. "Where is Sally?" "I don't know." I shoot the big window behind his desk. "Wrong answer." I push him to the edge of the broken window. "Enough bullshit!" He starts to ramble and tries to manipulate me. "You can't harm me. I'm your brother. We built this dream together. You knew the risk, and you benefited from it. I'm still in control of our dream." I want him to see the nightmare he is controlling. Not the dream. From this floor, we see his entire dying city. "Look at your city. The dream is broken. You never see the streets as I do. You never see people dying in the gutter in a fake world, believing they are happy. I'm real, and so is Sally. Start talking." He bends his head and starts talking. "You won't like the answer. She came to me for credits. She wanted to run away with her boyfriend. You are right about the city, but she didn't trust you to talk about it. She is in another town. Safe." My adrenaline is pumping with the rage of hate. I lift him with one arm and have him hanging out of the shattered window. I call his bluff. "SHE'S FUCKING LESBIAN, YOU DUMB-FUCK!" I look him in the eyes, and he knows he fucked up. "Welcome to reality," I say with a narrow smile and calm voice. He screams: "BIX! Bix got her! I swear!" "Why?" "I don't know why. He is a sick fuck, playing mind games. Now, get me back in! You made your point, and I'm sorry I lied." "You think I bluff?" I let go. I watch him fall into his streets of lies. Only reality will catch him now. Not his dream. And for you, Mr. Bix. Your playtime is over. Reality will come for you too.
