Dream Light City. A city with a need for a hero for the rich. The bank is being robbed. How convenient. I arrive at the scene. It is a mess, and the crowd is too big. The cops are trying to control them as the SWAT is backing out. I see two wounded police officers getting carried away to the ambulances. My deputies are hiding behind a truck, trying to come up with a plan. I pass them all as I stroll toward the bank's main entrance, not showing any care for my surroundings. Alpha is here. One of my deputies tries to communicate with me. He passes his pad to me. "Look here, Sheriff." I pass it back without even looking at it. I kick down the wooden plank the cops have placed as a safety barrier and walk over it. "STOP!" Someone shouts. I do not stop. The main door to the bank is blown away. A robber pulls out a hostage in front of the entrance, aiming a rifle at him from the side. "STOP RIGHT THERE, SHERIFF!" The robber shouts from his hiding. The poor hostage is shaken in fear. I call the robbers bluff, and I do not stop. I continue my steady walk. There is a great silence, with only my footsteps eccoing. "GET BACK, OR I'LL SHOOT THIS FOOL." The robber shouts. I get closer. I see them all in my vision. The biotech is scanning ID chips. Five robbers and twenty hostages. Amazing tool. A blast suddenly shoots the rifle away from the hostage. A blast from my Raygun. Faster than the eye could see, I had drawn my Raygun. Faster than my own mind could react, my enhanced reflexes had synchronously worked with my Raygun's AI. I shoot two other rifles out of their hands on the spot, as I hold my Powerblade up against the robber behind the main door. I’m aiming my Raygun at the last two robbers behind the counter. They drop all the credit chips and weapons they have in their hands. The cops and SWAT storm the building. All hostages are safe. All baddies are pacified. Game over. My heart is running crazy like a wild horse. The adrenaline is insane. I need to calm down. I close my eyes. Time disappears. I stand firm in the door opening, getting my breath under control. All sounds fade away, and I finally relax. I open my eyes. I'm still holding my Powerblade at the robber. He hasn't moved. No one dares to interrupt me. For how long had I stood there? Doesn't matter. I walk away. An officer takes the robber. I keep walking. No one dares to block my path. Not even the annoying press. They all step aside. You wanted a hero, Mister Mayor? I give you a goddam fucking hero! … Back at my office. They all clap at me, but they also fear me. I close my door. I sit in my chair. I turn off my phone. I lay my head on the desk. I'm emotionally overloaded, and I start to cry. I zone out. Someone knocks on my door. I wake up. I pull myself together before answering. "Come in!" I say with a deep confident tone. Mr. Bix enters. Fuck.
