Chapter 35: Moonlit Awkwardness Only after Elanore was alone completely with her Pot did she realized she’d met a talking dog that spoke her language. Come to think of it, I don’t even know what language I am speaking right now. Isn’t it basically English? The vampire thought back to those tablets and remembered that her wyvern maid didn’t know how to read them. As if thinking about Naela was a cue, the wyvern in question showed up in the small clearing. She dropped a large deer onto the ground. Don’t tell me...[Inspect]! https://i.ibb.co/cKyqPBbY/Great-Deer-Carcass.png “Mistress? Why are you giving me a strange look.” “You killed the escaped deer! He had so much to live for!” The wyvern tilted her head. “I found this one after he’d fallen down a hill. The only choice was to put him out of his misery, mistress.” The wyvern gestured to the corpse. “Anyways, you told me that you would prepare me meals, so it’s time for you to do it, mistress.” Elanore watched the deer fall to the ground with a thud. “I guess...I guess, I did say that.” The vampire stored it away with her inventory and began dissecting the pieces inside. Poor Bucky didn’t even get to live for a day after being chased by wolves. Naela sat down on a fallen tree and waited. She placed her hands under her head and watched Elanore go to work. “Mistress, maybe we should talk about what happened earlier now that you’re calmed down.” Elanore felt her cheeks flush yet again as she started working. She placed Pot on the ground and took a look around the forest, inspecting the local trees for herbs. She found a few useful things. There were mushrooms, and it seemed like the local bark carried some seasoning properties. https://i.ibb.co/CKdHYNLt/Olimer-Mushroom.png https://i.ibb.co/fhgMSr7/Hagraven-Tree-Bark.png The wyvern continued. “You don’t have to say anything, mistress. I have no experience with such things, but I know about them.” Elanore started shredding the hagraven bark with an alchemy spell, turning it into a fine powder. Her ears had become red, but she focused on her task. She took some of the fat from the large deer and started to heat it up with flames inside of her cauldron. I can use this for oil in order to cook the other stuff. I don’t really have a pan for frying, but this should work just as well. “I am not really expecting anything out of this. I was only going based on what I’d felt at the time, and for that, I am sorry, mistress.” The vampire sighed and lifted Enerdle from the cauldron, a bit of grease flying from the tip of the ladle and onto the ground of the woodlands. Elanore pointed the wooden implement at Naela. “I think I remember saying to do it again. Everything I do is completely based off vibes. There is nothing wrong with following feelings, and that’s what led me here in the first place.” “Mistress…” Elanore shook her head and looked at the bubbling grease inside of Pot. She taste tested the tree bark with her finger. Ooh, this kind of has a cumin flavor? Interesting… The vampire witch looked towards her smiling wyvern and shook her head. “Stay quiet for a little bit! I need to focus, and I can’t do that when you’re distracting me.” Naela pouted and crossed her arms, turning her head away from the burning pot of grease. The act tugged at Elanore’s heart strings, but she refused to budge. She continued her foray into cooking. She spread some of the tree bark over a cut of venison, and she smacked the seasoning on it as if she was dusting the piece of meat. After the bark was sufficiently coating the surface, she dipped the meat into the pot. Sizzling meat started to coat the air with its scent. The vampire put the mushrooms next to the cooking meat, sauteing them on the sides of the red chunk. I guess, she would probably like medium rare meat? Elanore looked up to the previously pouting wyvern and found her staring at Pot and salivating. I have found the ultimate distraction technique! I should make this some kind of culinary skill! The v
