Art by Miftasee on Vgen! Elanore channeled mana into her staff, despite the protest of the wolf. Pink mist flowed up the shaft and into the crystal on the end, and she aimed it at the ogre. This time, she put less magic into one of the first spells she’d cast when she arrived at this world. “[Mana Dart]!” The pink blast erupted from the staff and rifled past the wolf. The ogre didn’t even have time to voice a protest. The second his eye locked onto the projectile was the second that the projectile hit him. It ripped through his eye, boring a hole into his head through the retina, and it continued. Elanore watched the dart blast his head open, the ogre’s brains coating the nearby tree. The vampire didn’t stop the spell, seeing how far it would go instead. It continued in the air, crashing through several trees, and finally getting stuck in a large boulder. “Well done, your majesty!” The vampire grinned, showing off her pearly white fangs. “Thank you, my dearest Pot! It is an honor to receive your praise.” Though, there was at least one who was unhappy with Elanore’s actions. The alpha of the wolves ran in front of her and got into a defensive stance, raising his tail, and growling at her. “I said. Don’t!” Elanore shut the voice off from her mind and waved her finger at the wolf. “Don’t get the wrong idea. I wasn’t saving you or anything. I was simply taking my kill. After all, this is the whole reason I came out here.” The vampire leapt into the air and landed on the chest of the large ogre. “Bleh, you are even more disgusting up close.” She closed her eyes and used her hands to pierce his chest, ripping his core from his body. “[Cleanse]! [Cleanse]!” The vampire cleaned all of the blood and gunk from her hands and jumped back onto the ground near the wolf. She sighed and looked at the two dying wolves nearby. The scene reminded her of animals she’d watched on the side of the road. After getting hit by a car, it was common for them to suffer and die from their injuries. Elanore felt saddened by that reality happening here. There was already one dead wolf on her hands. She moved over to one of the dying wolves and pointed her staff towards its body. The alpha wolf rushed to bite the vampire’s sleeve, attempting to pull her away. “Bastard!” Well, that title is not completely wrong...Wait! Don’t give me such a title, please! The vampire waited as she started casting her next spell, but luckily for her, no bastard title came. “[Lesser Heal],” Elanore said, green magic pushing from her staff and into the dying wolf. The magic seeped into its body, and it started healing right away, the creature’s wounds stitching themselves. She walked towards the next wolf, dragging the alpha by her sleeve. The growling creature refused to let go of her the whole time. The vampire pointed her staff at the other dying wolf, the alpha dangling from that same arm like an ornament. She repeated her spell. By the time this wolf’s body started mending, the other wolf had healed completely and rushed over to his alpha. He barked at the alpha, and the alpha let go of Elanore’s sleeve. The vampire watched the leader of the wolf’s eyes glow with astonishment upon seeing his healed friend. “See, this is why you don’t jump to conclusions, and definitely don’t bite the hand that feeds you. You can have this carcass.” Pot chuckled and flew next to Elanore. “As always, your majesty is the most benevolent one, even saving those that would try and bite you.” Elanore clicked her tongue. “This is not benevolence. This is…” The alpha whimpered and lowered himself to the ground in a submissive posture. “Wrong I was. Thank you…” Elanore looked at his status, observing his dwindling mana. “Don’t mention it, and there is no reason to
