Rematch Lorena followed Lorv to a store room deep in Old Town. Izul hadn’t been with him, thankfully, instead having been left to tend to the store. That made Lorena’s tailing efforts significantly easier as she could fully utilize Stealth. The air inside the store room was musky, and dust danced in the sunbeams that found their way past the boarded up windows. The room was oddly situated, with four large shelves filled with wooden crates of various crafting supplies, one in each cardinal direction. In the center of the room was a modest workbench. Around the edge of the room were stacks of large wooden crates and rolled up scrolls leaning in corners. Lorv stood in front of the northern shelf, a vial of golden liquid in one hand. Shadows swirled all around him, drifting in the stale air as if there was a breeze. Lorena crept through the shadows in the room, but dread filled her stomach. Normally she’d relish in the darkness that enveloped the room, but knowing Lorv’s shadow powers it only brought a sense of dread. Ren, I just wanted to say— It’s okay. I know we have to do this. Just make it quick. Lorena let out a slow breath and drew her daggers. Skeletor felt light in her hand; the dark streaks of shadows swirling around the fang pulsed as she neared her target. She was inches away from him and he was none the wiser. He rubbed a drop of the golden liquid between his bony fingers, then jotted some notes on a scroll he had pinned to the side of the shelf. Skeletor sank in several inches as Backstab activated, then hit a brick wall half an inch from Lorv’s robes as his shield blocked the blade. Combo Points (4/5) Lorv spun, his eyes flaring a dark red. His mouth split into a grin, revealing several missing teeth as a cackle echoed out of him. Lorena followed up the Backstab with a Vicious Stab, her dagger getting stopped once again by the shield. Combo Points (5/5) Her body hummed with energy as her combo points met their full potential, but frustration bloomed. She stabbed Skeletor into Lorv’s neck, the blade infuriatingly stopping just half an inch short of her target. She let out a frustrated growl as she yanked the blade away, it was like stabbing a target wrapped in a thick foam. Precision Strike still activated. Combo Points (0/5) Lorv took a wide stance, not bothering to even try and dodge or block her strikes. He heaved with his hands, gripping the shadows like heavy weights, then thrust them over his head. He let out a blood curdling roar as he threw his arms forward, a tidal wave of shadows following, but Lorena was already moving. She leapt backwards, vaulted over the workbench and crouched down low. Coldness seeped into her bones as the wave of shadows passed all around her. The table shook and she stared, her jaw falling open as the wood scarred black everywhere the wave touched. I can feel something. Skeletor, it’s… Ren’s words cut off with a gasp. Lorena stood and went to charge, but Lorv was gone, in his place a shimmering oval shadow levitated above the ground. Coldness gripped her chest. She looked down in horror as shadowy claws wrapped themselves around her and clawed at her armor. Icy sharp nails dug their way through the leather and under her skin, scratching at her breastbone. Tendrils of ice stabbed at her heart as she fell to one knee, the pain immense. Her health dropped by 20%. She clawed at the shadows but her hands went right through them, intangible despite the very real pain. With a final stab the pain passed and she spun to face the southern shelf. Lorv was standing in front of the shelf, a similar oval shadow behind him. Portals? Lorena asked Ren, but all she got in response was a grunt and a sense of frantic struggle. She launched forward, sinking her whole weight into a Vicious Stab. Combo Points (1/5) This time the shield flickered. Lorv growled, a low gravelly tone that set her hair on end. She peppered him with lesser strikes and two more Vicious Stabs, draining her Energy. Combo Points (3/
