Festival of Mending Hands Lorena wasn’t sure who was more excited, her or Ren. Lorena stared at the thirty-seven completed quests in her quest log with pride, willfully ignoring the building anxiety in her stomach. She had done all that she could, and now whatever happened, happened. We have so much to do! Why are you still in bed? Ren was a buzz of chaotic energy, excitement for the Festival of Mending Hands causing her to go overboard, but Lorena was choosing to enjoy it. It was nice not only seeing this side of Ren, but being able to share in something that was distinctly hers. What do we have to do first? Normally I’d have an outfit, but we didn’t—Oh! Go ask Naith if we can raid her closet. Definitely not, no way she’d let us do that. She so would, come on, please? Lorena sighed but proceeded across the quiet safe house and knocked gently on Naith’s door. “Who is it?” What do I even say? Repeat after me. I need a dress for today, I was wondering if I could borrow one? Lorena said the words, feeling a tinge of embarrassment. Why are you embarrassed? This is peak girlhood, you should be honored to be experiencing it. The door swung open, Naith’s eyes wide with excitement. “I have the perfect dress for you.” Lorena stumbled into the room as Naith pulled her in and slammed the door behind them. She dug through her closet until she pulled out an emerald green floor length dress. It had a considerable slit up the left side and a cinched waist. The material was a matte silk and delectably soft. Goddess Tevra will be so pleased. “Thank you Naith, this is gorgeous.” Naith laid the dress over Lorena’s arm, then turned back around and dug through her closet until she found a pair of black high heels. Finally I’ll be tall. I like our height. Just wait until you try on the heels. Lorena thanked Naith, then scurried back to her room to try things on. It took her considerably longer than she expected to get the dress on, having never worn something strapless before. But with careful and definitely not frantic instruction, Ren guided her through it. So what is this festival all about? It’s to give thanks to the Goddesses that freed us from the wrath of Gods during the rebellion. For Goddess Tevra specifically, we thank her for lending us security and safety, and ask that she protects us in the coming year. After an hour of getting ready, they were finally done. Lorena stood in front of the mirror and inspected herself, an odd feeling washing over her. We look great. I know, this dress is to die for. Lorena stepped outside and found Harkyn sitting at the table, wearing a suit as usual, but this one was a bit fancier, or maybe it was just newer. “Good morning Lorena, you look absolutely stunning.” Lorena couldn’t help the heat coloring her cheeks. “Thanks Harkyn, you look great too.” “Why thank you dear. So, are you excited for the quest turn in extravaganza?” Lorena beamed, “I am. Are we getting the blessing and then going straight for the turn ins?” “We are, we’ll head out as soon as Naith is ready.” Just then, Naith emerged from her room. She wore a dark black dress that ended just above the knee, showing off her considerably toned legs. She had a wreath of flowers braided into her hair, and her bow was slung over her shoulder. Look at Noodle! Lorena’s eyes darted toward Noodle at Ren’s insistence and she couldn’t bite back the laugh. Noodle was dressed in what could only be described as a dress. Long flowing fabric wrapped around the snake’s body, ending several inches past his tail. “Noodle looks very dashing.” “Thanks, Hedi is staying put for now, she’s a bit too chaotic for the temple.” Tell her she looks amazing right now or so help me— “You also look amazing. And thanks again for the dress.” Naith blushed, her eyes glinting at the compliment. “Thanks, and no worries, it looks great on you.” “Yes yes, everyone looks quite wonderful. But we have a schedule to maintain,” Harkyn said as he stood and approached the door. Naith rolled he
