A 5 AM Start 1 Bladewraith Skill Point has been awarded New stat unlocked: Mastery: When your abilities critically strike, gain an extra combo point. This effect scales based on mastery Lorena felt a rush of knowledge flood her body as the specialization took hold. She stared at the mastery stat in awe. That single stat had just changed everything. Her biggest limiter in combat was how many combo points she could earn, and being able to gain more with critical strikes was fantastic. She opened the new window in her interface, the Bladewraith Skill Tree. It wasn’t as much of a tree as it was a galaxy. A web of talents appeared before her, spidering connections weaving them all together in a complex map of her total potential. In the very center were three choices for her to start with. Efficient Killer (0/5): Every combo point you spend generates 2 energy Adrenaline Rush (0/1): After attacking from stealth, gain Adrenaline Rush, increasing the damage of offensive combo point spenders by 40% for 5 seconds Strike in the Night (0/5): Increase critical strike rating by 2% What do you think? She asked Ren. Ren made a small humming sound. This is more your area of expertise, but maybe Strike in the Night? It works well with our new Mastery stat. Lorena had been leaning toward Adrenaline Rush, but she saw the logic. I see the value, but I think Adrenaline Rush gives us more, at least for right now. If we open with Backstab, we’ll instantly get three combo points. Lorena did some quick math in her head. If we time it right, we’ll then have just enough Energy for a Precision Strike before the 40% bonus wears off. Ren shrugged. Sounds good to me. Lorena put one of her two points into Adrenaline Rush, then the remaining one in Strike in the Night. Don’t forget the Stealth Skill Tree, that’s the one I care about. Lorena opened up the skill tree Deepening Contrast (1/3) - The barrier to the shadow world blurs more, allowing you to take advantage of less dim light as shadows. Quick Step (2/10) - Move faster through the shadows, reducing the movement speed penalty from 20% to 15%. Lingering Shadows (1/3) - Moving through shadows while in Stealth coat you in residual shadow energy, allowing you to maintain stealth for 3 seconds after leaving the shadows. Slight Redirect (0/2) - While in Stealth if a target is about to collide with you unintentionally, they feel the urge to veer to the side slightly, avoiding you. Slight Redirect, that’s new right? Yeah, and it seems great. Remember the Mage Quarter? That’s what I was thinking of, maneuvering through the crowd would have been way easier. We have three points to spend, right? Yeah, so one in Slight Redirect, how about one in Deepening Contrast? Hmm, yeah that seems like a good idea. More shadows the better, right? I want Quick Step for the last one. Couldn’t agree more, Lorena said, her voice had finally lost its emotional edge. It’s getting dark, we should get back to the Copper Lantern. Lorena stood and brushed the grass off her clothes. That might not be the best place to stay. Right. Well Naith said we had a room at the safe house, right? Let’s go get the few things we left at the Copper Lantern and end our stay, then head to the safe house. Sounds like a plan to me. * * * They didn’t have much left behind at the Copper Lantern, other than the hair brush Lorena had left on the bathroom counter. On their way out of the inn they walked through the market, the energy quiet and peaceful compared to earlier in the day, but Lorena was still on edge. You’re fine, nothing is going to happen. I know, it’s just hard to turn it off. I get it. Oh! Can we get that? Third stall on the left. Lorena walked up to the stall Ren called out and found an older man sitting on a wooden chair without a cart. Behind him hung a series of what appeared to be instruments, some reminiscent of Earth instruments such as guitars and violins, but others seemed otherworldly, which made sense. “Hello miss, how can I help you?
