Chapter 01: The Day That Never Ends What is the first thing he felt? Mud. That is the first thing he felt. Mud No…he thinks about it again and he change his mind. The first thing he felt and saw was a light. And then darkness. And then in a moment that felt like an eternity and at the same time, a second, he suddenly felt this Mud. Soil. The smell of shit….yes, shit. That earthy taste. And then, he felt blood. Cold, iron tasting. No, not cold. Hot. Felt like rust That is how he recognizes that it is blood. He instinctively knows it is blood. His cheek was pressed into the ground. That is where the mud comes from, he thought to himself. The thought just came to him. And then his cheek could feel the ground trembling. Like an earthquake. “ARGH!” He heard screaming. “It makes sense” the last thing Elias remembers was that he was sweeping the ground on the office of CERN. That job was a last-minute job. It was not even his shift. He was just substituting for someone. Something happened, though he did not quite remember what. He is now feeling groggy and his memories are all over the place And for some reason, he has some other memories, and his head is feeling sick because of this But right now, he wants to know why there is such a screaming. Did something happen? “You beast!” Elias heard someone shouting. Whatever that person wanted to say next, the sound was cut short A sound echoes in his ears. That sound cut the voice of that person The sound is the sound of a short-wet crunch, that is the best way he could describe it. Slowly, Elias opens his eyes and what he saw shocked him And all of a sudden, it was like all of his senses is being bombarded by the scenery that he is seeing right now “What the hell?” The first thing he saw is smoke. Thick dark smoke like it would engulf the white clouds in the sky It is so thick that Elias could not even see the white clouds in the sky All he sees are dark clouds. And then as he looks more around him, he could see fire all over. Some seems to rise to the sky, and some are closer. And he could feel the heat seemingly coming closer to him And then there is tens of thousands of people. At least that is what he believes. A sea of people all around him He could not really estimate the approximate how many people in this place. But there seems to be tens of thousands of people all around him An instinct telling him that this is ten thousand people. Like he already knew the answer to this. But there is something else he notices All of these people are wearing strange clothing. And for a second Elias gulped. The first thought he had after seeing this “It does not make sense. Am I dreaming?” It doesn’t make sense what he is seeing right now. He looks around and his eyes could not see far other than the smokes and the people around him He saw people hacking each other, with hammer, swords, pitchfork and blood everywhere. Blood and flesh. Fire and blood. Yeah, blood Elias did not exactly live a life of timidity, but he surely did not live a life where he saw this kind of blood….fest? The last time he saw this kind of scene of blood was at the butchers. He hears the neighing of horse in the distance but even that noise was something that he probably mistaken. Because all he could hear now, is the screaming of people around him, yelling charge and attack and kill “What kind of language they are speaking?” Elias thought before he suddenly realized even though the language seems foreign to him, he could understand it. And he could not believe it This is wrong. This is very wrong. “I need to get up first” he pushed himself up and he could feel his feet feeling the wetness of the mud. He looks down and he sees blood among the dark mud And he looks at himself. His arms particularly. His arms are thin, unfamiliar, wrapped in a coarse lined, stained with mud and red. “This is not me” He would not say that he has the most perfect physique and he did not have six pack abs. But he was not overweight or skinny. He
