Chapter 12: Meeting The Rest of The Team I followed behind, but the thoughts swirled in my head. Was it even possible for someone to have two minds at once, but still be one person? "Are you okay?" Ciara asked, her face even closer to mine. Thankfully her father had drained most of my life force, so I was able to control the burning. At least, I thought I was drained, but a flash back to Mr. Clarence's whispered words and my own reminded me that I had basically declared I, a mere peasant, was going to take this literal princess as my wife. Yeah, the burning came back with a vengeance, but thankfully, Nathan was there to pull us apart. "Jeez, give him some space, CeeCee! I have met your dad a few times, and he is terrifying! That, and you need to break the recluse into the idea of having the girl he is now going to marry so close to him!" Nathan laughed, but Ciara shoved him out of the way, but up in my face like she had never left. "So you really told my dad?!" She asked, and I swear there was a twinkle in her eye. Had I really thought that the fantastical world was the only one filled with magic? "Um, yes. You did tell me to, right?" I asked, and she gave me a wide smile. "Yes! I did! Now, we can get to know each other!" She declared, and the burning got hotter. "What did I say, CeeCee?" Nathan asked, but there was the sound of a female clearing her throat that could be heard near me, even over the crowd. I turned with Ciara nearly pressing into me to see two more girls and a tank of a guy looking as stoic as a knight, mostly. The anime shirt with a cute cat from a popular anime kind of ruined the whole look, but he didn't look like a mean guy. He had short brown hair, a square face, but he also had the same piercing blue eyes I had. The other two girls were our age, and maybe the guy was as well, but they clearly were. The first girl had dark brown that went well with her olive skin and was dressed in short silky red dress and heels, and the other girl had light blonde hair, and looked like a fairy. Her face was small, and the light hair and white sundress fit perfectly with her. She was so petite I could probably hold her up with one arm, even with my thin body. I was about to say something, but all the heat from my body seemed to drain as I felt a slight icy feeling of danger. Not as dangerous or as strong as Mr. Clarence, but a definite feeling of something bad would happen if I made the wrong move. "Who are they?" I asked Ciara as I turned back, but I felt any other warmth my body had drained and I saw the frigid look mixed with disgust and contempt, but it was not aimed at me. I flicked my eyes and saw it was directed at the dark haired girl. I had not taken the chance to look at Ciara in the past, but that look she had was intense. The coolness I had felt warmed up as I finally really understood the being so close to me was. Ciara was a gamer. I felt her passion when we talked and heard the chimes when she laughed. Yet, now I felt her icy cold side that was clearly competitive, and I also understood her father. All these truths about Ciara were revealed with that single look. She was a true gamer, and was the perfect princess to my own dream. I was so lost in thought I didn't realize that the girl with dark hair had moved right in front of me, and the fairy girl was trying to get her away. "Hello, I am Katerina, and this is my friend, Sarah," she said, and the fairy girl waved her hand. "Sorry about her! She has a bad habit of metaphorically taking other people's things," Sarah said, but Katerina rolled her eyes. "What? I am just trying to be friendly! And come on! This is Death March! Anyone in the world that plays games and knows what a trophy hunter is, knows that this guy is the definition of the title!" Katerina said, and then looked at me. "Can we talk?" She asked, and then I felt a small hand grasp mine. "No, he cannot, Vixen" Ciara said, and I could hear a slight growl in her tone, but when I turned back, she h
