Chapter 13: Icy Feeling I messaged Ciara to let her know I was heading home because I wasn't a fan of crowds, and she didn't seem upset about it. I was just glad to make it home after the day I had just had. So many new things happening in my life in one day was not normal for me, and I needed something to clear my head. That being said, the package containing my new VR helmet was waiting at my door when I reached my apartment. I probably should have just gone to bed, but I wanted to try and load the game up. Even if I couldn't get in, I wanted to see if I could get any more hints to how the game was going to play. After I finished installing the helmet, I sat on the bed with it on and waited for everything to load. The process was taking a long time, and I felt my eyes getting heavy. The events of the day had left me drained, and the softness of my bed was tempting me. I decided to give in and let myself slip away. I had just closed my eyes when a sudden jolt snapped me back awake, but I was standing? Before my eyes could open, a strong scent of dirt and trees filled my nose and I felt rough ground under my feet. When I opened my eyes, a large forest surrounded me. A beautiful canopy of trees and leaves blocked most of the sky, but it was a bright sunny day. The forest floor was covered in thick grass and moss, and the ground was soft. I could even feel the air was warm and fresh, and when a small breeze blew past, the rustling of the leaves and the swaying branches made a wonderful sound. "Wait... Is this a dream?" I asked myself, then paused when I noticed what looked like a freshly covered grave. I moved to turn away from the grave, but a small window popped up in front of me like in a game. Welcome to Magicalia: The real world Class: Necromancer Good luck Then everything hit me as the message vanished as fast as it came. I had passed out with the VR headset on, but I was in the game now? I thought it wasn't supposed to work? Many questions blurred through my mind, but I pushed them aside, and tried to call up my menu to log out. Nothing happened. "Oh yes, no menu... hmmm," I mused, then tried to issue every mental command that I could think of, but to no avail. "Is there some kind of key word? Hmm, logout? Exit? Log off? Eject? Leave?" I tried, but none of them worked. At this point, I decided just to sit down in front of the grave. I could feel something cold, but inviting radiating from deep in the dirt. Since I had no way to get out, I might as well get started on this new and weird life. Seriously though, an entire year here? "This was kind of dumb on my part. I also shouldn't have acted too brazen when Vixen Hearts offered to teach me magic," Complained, but it was more of a coping mechanism. I was just frustrated that I was going to have to be alone for the first while. not like I wasn't used to it, but I had gotten used to having Nathan around now. I also had a girl now that liked me, or maybe she always did? Another thing that I was going to be stuck wondering about until I met up with them, but how long was that going to take? I suddenly slapped my hands to my cheeks, and squeezed my eyes shut before taking in a deep breath of air and then exhaling it. I wasn't here to worry about things I could do nothing about. I would see everyone when I did, but for now, it was time to really dive into this world, and my new strange class. "Necromancer? Does that mean that the cold inviting feeling coming from the grave is like some kind of necromantic energy?" I mused quietly, staring at the smooth tombstone that had no writing on it. No one was going to answer my question, so I sat and just tried focusing on the cold feeling deep in the ground. At first, nothing seemed to happen, but as I continued, the coldness started to grow, and the longer I focused, the colder and stronger the sensation got. "Ok, so that is something... But how can I use this?" I asked, and then had a sudden idea. I reached my hand down and started to
