"You and I are the only people in this game! Come on! We have to finish this today! I got shit to do!" Nathan shot back as I started unloading all the shells in my 30 foot long, 3 foot wide crystal Gatling gun, which had 12 barrels, at the boss. Each time one of the 5-inch diameter shells made contact with the boss's metal armor, a chunk of metal was ripped out like something had taken a bite out of it, and a few even hit the exposed circuitry and wiring that was visible. The battle platform, which was the size of a basketball court, and had 8 spider-like legs, was a combination of a battle platform and a walking tank. The boss didn't have a main gun, but instead had four turrets with a 3 inch gun each. They have the armor piercing qualities that a real world 3-inch gun would have, but with a nano-tip that burrowed like an insect with its explosive payload. This wasn't the biggest boss in the game, or even the strongest, but the battle platform was the last enemy on the map, and it was a hard fight because of the extreme finickiness of the boss's aggro. The achievement required both players to kill the battle platform in one combined strike with more that 50% of it's health remaining. The achievement was called "A Pair Of Aces", but the problem was locking the boss down so both of us could use a strong enough weapon to take it out. This was made nearly impossible because at 60% health, the boss entered a state known as High Alert. This was normally only used by lower leveled SS Patrol Knights, and it prevented players from one shotting them powerful weapons by locking onto their signature and activating an orbital strike. No matter what weapon you used, the orbit strike would always activate before any weapon could activate. You could normally negate the effect by having your partner engage them while striking from a distance, but the battle platform auto targeted both players even if only one activated their weapon. "My energy is just passing the 50% mark! How much longer do you need?" Nathan asked, and I could tell he was getting nervous. "Just keep drawing his fire! I need 30 more seconds!" I shouted as I stopped shooting for the tenth time in the 3 last minutes. "Once I reach 100% armor break, we will have less than 3 seconds to activate our ultimates!" "I can't wait any longer! My MTX80 has a 6 second cool down after activation! If we wait that long, we will lose the achievement!" Nathan shouted as the MTX80 dashed across the courtyard, and a green light began to fuse with the blue shield to surround the 40 foot tall mech in another protective coating. "If you do this now, the aggro is going to switch back to me, and I will get shot to pieces! Just shut up, and follow the plan!" I snapped as I started to fire again. I wasn't really that angry, but it was a habit of mine to shout when I was under stress. When you spent most of your time inside a mechanized armor, it was natural for the body language and mannerisms of the suit to rub off on the actual body. Even if it was just a game, these suits of armor were like a second home to me. "3 seconds, DeathMarch!" Nathan called, which forced a smile as I watched the armor break meter reach 100%. "NOW!" I roared, and I activated my ultimate ability, and massive glowing green targeting appeared on the ground, centered on my golden mech. "RAILGUN ARMAMENT!" Armament abilities were the most powerful ability any mech had in HSN, and what Nathan called our "ultimates", which I allowed, since he mostly used my gamer tag. It allowed me to call down a massive pod from orbit that would land in front of me, and then it would open up and start to transform my mech into a massive stationary magnetically propelled railgun. It wasn't the strongest ability in the game, and it couldn't target, but it was the only gun in the game that could fire the "Big Bang" shell. The Big Bang Shell was the strongest nano-tip round, and could easily burrow 50 layers through the armor of any mech before explod
