Chapter – 21 – Ending rewritten. ⚠ Announcement I have rewritten the ending of this chapter as I think that it fits better with the story than what I had previously written. Returning back to where everyone else is I see that they are halfway through building what looks like an obelisk made from stone blocks from the surrounding area held together with Xituna’s magic. “Big sister your back”(Xecra) “I am Xecra. What have you all been doing?”(Xyrra) “We have been burying the mortals who died in the last attack. We have also been building an obelisk so that the mortals who lived and died in the sanctuary and everything that happened with it is not forgotten.”(Xecra) “That's a good idea. What has happened here is not something that should be forgotten. You really have changed Xecra before this you wouldn’t have cared for the mortals like this.”(Xyrra) “When we were in the sanctuary and you were not there to help us I realised that the mortals are not much different from us except that they are weaker. I decided I needed to change so that I can help and protect them.”(Xecra) I put my hand on her head. “I am proud of you Xecra”(Xyrra) “Thank you, big sister.”(Xecra) I walk over to the obelisk to see it in more detail. It currently stands at about twenty feet and is made of randomly shaped stones that have been joined together using earth magic. Towards the bottom of it is a carving of a large tree that resembles Azurea’s tree. The obelisk so far is a rectangular prism with a ledge separating the carving from the rest of the obelisk. Currently, the mortals are in three main groups. The first is gathering stones for the obelisk, the second is helping Xituna build the obelisk and the last is gathering materials needed for survival this is also the largest group. However, it doesn’t look like they are having much luck due to how barren the land is now. The mortals might need to live mainly in the sanctuary still while we rebuild the world. From what I have seen so far both Xituna and Xecra have done a good job leading the mortals with the help of the divine helpers. “Xituna is everything going well?”(Xyrra) Xituna who was working on the obelisk turns around and walks over to me “The building of the obelisk has been going well so far. However, the outside world is not habitable for the mortals. I will have to start working on regrowing the land.”(Xituna) “How long do you think that will take?”(Xyrra) “First, I will have to purify the ground so that it is suitable for plants to grow and then we wait for the plants to grow. However, I can speed up the growth but it is better for it to grow naturally. What I can do is use the sanctuary to increase the growth of plants and when it is large enough for the mortals to live in let it spread naturally to the rest of the world.”(Xituna) “I think that should work for now remember to tell me or Xecra if you need any help. Now how are the mortals?”(Xyrra) “They are working hard but I don’t think that they are in the right spirit. I think after all the stories they heard of the world they were excited to see it and had expectations when they saw what is like now they seem to have lost their excitement and spirit.”(Xituna) “It is unfortunate what has happened. We will need to find a way to raise their spirits. I want to give the mortals the best life possible but it doesn’t look like that will happen for a few generations.”(Xyrra) “Don’t worry big sister we will do all we can for the mortals. We will rebuild the world and bring it back to its former glory.”(Xituna) “We will Xituna we will.”(Xyrra) ------- As nightfall came most of the mortals went back to the sanctuary but a few wanted to stay outside. The few that remained used materials from the sanctuary and any of the few materials available outside to set up small and simple shelters around a campfire. In total there are about fifty of them in about ten wooden shelters made with sticks. All these shelters are surrounding a large fire. To make sure
