The Mystic In Mandalo: Part 2 --- Test (Chapters 6-9) ______________________________________ The clatter of hooves grew louder until a voice called out. "Hey! You're alive, boy?" Uzi groaned, forcing himself upright. His shoulder throbbed as he squinted up at the rider. "Who... who are you?" he rasped. The man dismounted with surprising ease for his age. "Name's Guntic. Doctor, by trade. Found you lying by the road back there. Patched up that shoulder before it got worse. Figured I'd take you with me." Uzi pressed a hand to the bandage, still grimacing. "Why would you bother?" "Because leaving you there meant you'd die," Guntic said simply. "And I don't let people die if I can help it." Uzi hesitated, then asked, "Why are we leaving this place?" The doctor's expression tightened. "Because this kingdom isn't safe anymore. The Imperial Nation has fallen. Half of it's already destroyed." Uzi's breath caught. "Destroyed? How... how could that happen so fast?" "They move like wildfire," Guntic said grimly. "And once they set their sights, there's no putting it out." Uzi, confused, asked a question, "who?" Guntic looked a little sadder, muttering something Uzi thought he heard as "I don't know." Uzi clenched his good fist, anger rising in his chest. "...So what now? Where are you taking me?" "To Mandalo. Small town, across the border in the Cascade Kingdom. My home. Safer than here, at least for now." Uzi's voice dropped. "And the people here? The ones who didn't escape?" Guntic paused, meeting his eyes. "...Not many will be left." Uzi fell silent, his chest tight. He wanted to argue, to shout, but the weight of his body and the pain in his shoulder dragged the fight out of him. Uzi thought to himself, "what if i told him I'm a god. He would think I'm crazy. Wait. I'm I still a god even?" Uzi looked at his hands. His soft fragile hands. His eyes moved towards the source of pain, Where the blade in his shoulder had been, a series of bandages with a deep crimson red soaked in from underneath. "I can't believe this has happened." Uzi looked around, he realized this was his first time seeing his world, the world he was in charge of. He was so tired though, he just went to bed, and fell asleep pretty fast. By nightfall, they stopped at a quiet inlet by the ocean. The waves whispered against the shore. Uzi woke up at nightfall. His eyes looked out, and saw Guntic out by a campfire by the water. "I should join him." Uzi told himself as he slowly got up, his shoulder hurt like a bitch as he did something that was a mix of a walk and a stumble, over to the fire, and awkwardly sat down next to him. "I'm Uzi, I forgot to tell you my name. I'm a big reader. When I was not doing my job, I was always reading." Uzi said to break the silence. "What's with your eyes, their cool, but Iv never seen eyes like them." Guntic asked, his throat still a little horse. "What do you mean, is something wrong with my eyes?" Uzi answered back. "Uzi, I got a mirror in the wagon, leaning on the wall next to my jugs of water, go look at yourself." Guntic explained while pointing back to the wagon. Uzi signed as he got up slowly, having to put pressure on his hands to lean forehead, and gather strength to get up, after managing to get up, Uzi made his way back to the trailer, climbed his way inside, and saw the mirror almost instantly. Uzi put his hand to his cheek. His shorter wavy brown hair complemented his whiter tan skin. Both his eyes stunned him. The eyes were yellow and gold, with red dots in the very center instead of black dots. They looked crazy. He was shirtless. A small but lean muscular frame. His eyes scanned downwards. Light blue shorts were the only clothing he had. The paleness from the point which the pale dead body sat in Rathra's hands, was gone with a breath of life. Uzi was baffled. "Wow, Its gonna take a while to get used to this body." He giggled a little, it was a sad giggle. "The yellow in my eyes tracks because my last body had yellow eyes
