Chapter 26: Unbroken Elyndra was coughing and choking from all the dust from the collapse as she focused ahead, holding her wand forward while crumbling stones floated just above her, inches away from crushing her. She then crawled out from the small hole she was under and canceled her spell, causing the stones that had been moments away from crushing her to fall to the ground where she had been lying. She stared at the unstable blocked path that separated her from Rachel as the blockage creaked and groaned, not knowing if Rachel was okay or not. Then she looked down at her broken leg and thought, "Let's heal this real quick, and then I need to go find Rachel." Things had just gone from bad to worse as the sounds of constant explosions echoed throughout the crumbling castle, and the ground shook every few moments. She then held her wand forward as she focused on gathering the magic needed to heal her broken leg. A green light shimmered on the tip of her wand. But then, from behind her, she was struck with a spell, and her magic faded. She instantly realized she had been hit with a silence spell. "This is bad," she thought as she burst into the sky, trying to fly out through the now roofless ceiling to get away from whoever had targeted her. Without her magic, she was useless. But before she could get far enough away to make her escape, an angel appeared right in front of her and slammed his shield into her, causing her to fall back toward the ground. She thudded against the stone wall before falling to the floor. She lay there on the stone ground, somewhat dazed as she coughed up a mouthful of blood. Her eyes were unfocused as her glasses had shattered from the impact. She looked to the side and saw the blurred vision of angels approaching her, step by step. Then a blurred figure approached and started to speak to her. “Well, well, well. Look what we have here.” He then stopped right in front of her and crouched down. The moment he spoke, Elyndra knew exactly who it was. Thamiel. She quickly tried to get up and fly once more, but the moment she tried, he thrust his hand forward and grabbed her. A grin spread across his face. “Where do you think you're going, traitor?” “You know, I've been searching for you and the others for a long time now so I could present your traitorous heads to the goddess. Looks like today is my lucky day.” Elyndra then moved her head forward and bit down on Thamiel's finger as blood leaked from the bite and ran down his hand. “Damn heretic. It looks like you still have some energy left. Looks like I'll take my time and give a witch like you a proper punishment before I deliver your head to the goddess.” He then tightened his grip around her neck as she slowly started to suffocate. Desperate for air, she kicked and struggled as hard as she could, but trapped within his grip, she could not escape. She thought this was the end. Then seconds later, he released his grip. Elyndra immediately began gasping for air. “You know, I've always hated you fairies. To have such weak, pathetic, fragile creatures that are only good at a single thing possess wings akin to us angels.” A cruel smile spread across his face. “So let's change that.” He reached his right hand behind Elyndra's back and grabbed one of her fairy wings. Then he tore it off. Elyndra screamed as blood splattered from her back and poured from the wound. Thamiel looked at her terrified expression. Her face twisted in agony as tears formed in her eyes. Then a fanatical grin appeared on his face. “Now that's a perfect look. Let's see if we can make it even better.” He casually flicked the severed wing aside before reaching behind her once more and grabbing the second one as he looked right into her eyes and his grin grew wider. Just like the first, he ripped it free. More blood splattered from her back. Elyndra's face twisted even further in pain, but this time she forced herself not to scream. She refused to give Thamiel the satisfaction. Unfortunately
