Chapter 43: Final Clash Rachel stood there as the bloody mist continued to spread, blanketing the area. She looked down at her armor, where the black-and-red blood thorns were protruding from all over its surface. Well, Rachel thought, this is not the most useful spell, but I guess for a situation like this, it's not too bad. Rachel then scanned the area. All around her, she could only see angels who had taken defensive stances, waiting for something to happen. All right, let's get this over with. Rachel scanned the area for her first victim, then charged forward. She punched with her gauntleted fist covered in four-inch bloody thorns, piercing right into an angel's eye socket. As the angel screamed, Rachel removed her fist from his face, and his body hit the ground. She quickly dodged back as another angel swung toward the sound of the scream in a panic. Rachel then dodged to the side and stepped forward. Her knee, covered in blood thorns, slammed into the angel's stomach. As he screamed in pain, she pulled back as blood, along with parts of his guts, fell to the floor. Rachel then turned to look for her next victim. For the next minute, she continued to slaughter the angels. Each new corpse that hit the ground had its blood siphoned away by the ever-expanding pool of blood spreading across the battlefield. But finally, the blood mist started to dissipate as the spell began to fade away. There were still so many angels left. Rachel steadied herself for a second as she caught her breath. All the exhaustion from today was finally catching up with her body. She then turned toward Garek. All right. Let's try to get a good hit on Garek before this mist totally dissipates. Rachel slowly bent down and picked up a mace. Then she charged forward toward Garek. As she closed the distance, she swung the mace down with all of her strength. Garek was able to step aside before it crushed his skull, but it still slammed into his shoulder with a crunch. Rachel immediately followed up with a second attack. Her blood-spiked gauntlet was already in motion, ready to finish Garek off. But her attack never landed. The moment the mace hit, Garek planted his foot as hard as he could into the bloody ground and kicked at the leaping Rachel, who was aiming her follow-up strike straight at his head. As his foot connected with her chest, Rachel flew backward, dropping the mace. She hit the ground and skidded across the bloody, mud-soaked battlefield until she finally came to a stop. Rachel lay there in pain as she felt even more ribs break. She remained still for a moment, waiting for the blood inside her armor to move toward the newly broken bones and hold them together, just like it was holding the rest of her battered body together. She groaned as she stood up, only to see Garek already closing the distance. He shot out his hand and grabbed her by the helmet, lifting her from the ground. Slowly, he tightened his grip with his monstrous strength. The helmet began to creak beneath the pressure of his crushing grasp. Rachel quickly moved her hand toward the chin strap and used one of the bloody thorns to slice through it. Rachel fell away as she dropped toward the ground while her helmet remained in his grasp. Garek noticed immediately and followed up with his fingerless hand, punching her directly in her exposed face. Rachel was sent flying even farther before collapsing near the demon maids and guards. One of them immediately knelt beside her. "Princess, are you alright?" Rachel looked toward her. Her face was stained with blood and black ichor. Bruises were already forming across her face, and black mana veins from the backlash were still spread beneath her skin. Rachel turned her head and spat out a mouthful of blood before speaking. "I'm fine. Just help me up." A maid moved to each side and helped Rachel back to her feet. Rachel wiped the blood leaking from her mouth and nose as her exhausted eyes stared at Garek in the distance. Her vision was begin
