Chapter 29: Trapped in Shadows The hero's shadow began expanding across the floor. Then it climbed the walls. Then the ceiling. Slowly, it spread throughout the entire throne room. Rachel immediately got a bad feeling about what was happening. She began gathering magic in her hand as a green glow slowly formed around her fingers. "Healing Pulse." Glowing magic appeared over her chest, and every few moments a pulse of healing energy radiated through her body, slowly mending her wounds. Rachel watched as the shadow continued spreading. She then bent down and picked up the battle axe near her feet. Standing there with the hero's butcher blade in one hand and her battle axe in the other, she waited. The Healing Pulse spell continued pulsing every few moments, slowly healing her wounds and stopping the bleeding. Meanwhile, the shadows continued consuming the room. The light from the windows vanished. The throne room disappeared into darkness. Rachel stood alone in the center of the throne room, surrounded by nothing but the darkness of his shadow. She waited for whatever would come next, though she had no idea what was about to happen. Then suddenly, something burst from the shadowy wall to her right. An arcing blade of shadow shot straight toward her. Rachel swung her battle axe and blocked the incoming attack. The moment she turned to intercept it, another shadow blade burst from the darkness behind her and slashed across her back, causing her to stumble forward as blood leaked from her new wound. Then a third blade erupted from beneath her feet, slicing into her left leg. The wound started to bleed for a moment until the Healing Pulse spell pulsed once more, slightly healing her new wounds and preventing more blood loss. Then, from every direction around her, she heard the hero's voice. "You took my hand, so I'm going to take you apart limb by limb. I am going to make you suffer." The floor pulsed once more as another shadow blade prepared to shoot upward. Rachel quickly jumped back. Then a blade burst from the wall behind her, aimed straight for her back. She twisted her body and blocked it with the hero's own blade. Another attack immediately came from her left. She intercepted it with her battle axe. "There's nothing you can do." "Struggle all you want. There is nothing you can do, for I am everywhere. Me and my shadow have merged and become one." Then suddenly, a hand burst from the shadow beneath her feet. It wrapped around her ankle and held her in place. At the same moment, shadow blades erupted from both her left and right. Rachel struggled to block them both. And before she could pull her foot free from his grasp and recover, more slashes came from her front and back. One carved across her back. The other sliced across her chest. Blood sprayed from the wounds as her entire body jerked from the impacts. Rachel then thought, If he's everywhere all at once, how the hell am I gonna defeat him? Fighting heroes is annoying. Then something popped into her head as she thought of the gravity sigils she used in her training room. When the fairies came to visit Elyndra while she was unresponsive, she was lucky enough to get them to train her in their magic. A smirk appeared on Rachel's face as she came up with a brilliant idea. She then holstered her axe as she held her hand forward and started pulling in a bit of magic. The hero noticed this but was unaware of what she was trying to do. As magic continuously gathered in her hand, the hero quickened his attacks as he continued to shoot out blades of darkness from all directions. Instead of defending, Rachel did her best to dodge them and use the blade in her right hand to block the ones she couldn't avoid. Then the spell finally formed as she held her hand up in the air and called out the name of the spell. "Gravity Sphere." A pulsing orb of gravity flew from her palm as it hovered in the air in the center of the room and started to pulse. With each pulse, the magic from the Gravi
