Chapter 21: Logan’s Treasury After Rachel was shooed out of Elyndra's room, she returned to her own and decided to get some more sleep. She still had not fully recovered from the brutal training she had endured earlier that day. Some time had passed, but then, out of nowhere, Rachel was startled awake as a loud alarm began echoing throughout the castle. She jolted upright in bed as the frantic noise of people running through the hallways reached her ears, armor clanging loudly with every step while panicked voices echoed in the distance. Rachel quickly pushed herself upright. A moment later, her door suddenly burst open as the guard captain and one of the maids rushed inside. Panic was written clearly across both of their faces. The guard captain immediately stepped forward, his expression grim as he tried to catch his breath. “Princess, we need to get you out of the castle now.” Rachel stared at him in confusion, her mind still foggy from just waking up. “What’s going on out there?” “We don’t know how, but the angels somehow got past our scouts. A small army of angels has appeared in the middle of our territory. We need to get you out of here immediately. They should arrive within half an hour.” “That’s impossible.” Rachel lowered her gaze and pointed toward the ground beneath her feet where the arcane sigil faintly pulsed with magic on the stone floor of her room. “I’m still bound to the castle grounds.” The guard captain looked down grimly before speaking. “Then we have no choice but to hold this castle. We’ve already sent our fastest scouts to inform the Demon Lord. Hopefully they’ll reach her in time to send reinforcements.” “Now, Princess, go with this maid. She’ll hide you somewhere safe until all of this is over. I have to leave now to command the guards.” The guard captain gave Rachel a slight bow before quickly turning and rushing out of the room. The maid immediately stepped forward and grabbed Rachel by the hand. “Get your shoes on. Let’s go, now. We don’t have much time.” Rachel quickly slipped out of bed and followed the maid out into the hallway, but after only taking a few steps, she suddenly stopped, turned around, and ran in the opposite direction. “Princess, where are you going?!” Rachel shouted back as she took off down the corridor. “I need to get Elyndra!” Rachel sprinted through the castle halls at full speed while the maid desperately tried to follow after her through the chaos erupting throughout the castle. But she was quickly left behind as Rachel was simply far too fast. As Rachel rushed toward Elyndra’s room, she passed countless maids and guards running through the castle halls in panic. Then she suddenly heard a familiar voice. “Rachel! Rachel!” Rachel’s ears twitched as she quickly turned toward the source of the voice. There, further down the hallway, she saw Elyndra being carefully cradled in the arms of a maid. “Auntie Elyndra! I was just looking for you!” Elyndra immediately turned toward the maid carrying her. “Hand me to Rachel and go get somewhere safe.” The maid hesitated. “B-But what about you and the princess?” “Don’t worry about us. I have a plan. Just hand me to her and go help the others.” “I understand.” The maid quickly stepped forward and carefully handed Elyndra over to Rachel. Afterward, the maid gave a quick bow before turning and rushing off down the hallway. “So what do we do, Auntie Elyndra?” Elyndra looked up at Rachel, who was carefully cradling her in her arms. “The only way we’re going to survive this is if we can get me back into fighting condition.” Elyndra’s expression grew serious. “And while we’re at it, we need to grab you some armor and weapons.” Rachel blinked in surprise. “Armor and weapons?” “Yes.” Elyndra nodded. “But we can just go to my room and use the secret training area. There should be a bunch of training swords there and a full set of plate armor I took from the training grounds.” Elyndra immediately shook her head. “No. That will not do.” Her express
