Chapter 46: The Next Battlefield Time continued to move forward, and fifty years of war passed. The Demon Lord's army pushed forward, winning countless battles as they slowly took over the angels' territory, advancing deeper and deeper into their lands. The goddess and the angels sent many heroes to try and stop them, but with Rachel and her cursed blade, the heroes were easily defeated and killed. Over the years, she became a threat as great as her mother, the Demon Lord herself. On the battlefield, Rachel was like an unstoppable force. As cities fell one after another, she continued advancing through angel territory until she finally arrived at one of the major cities within the angels' domain, where one of Goddess Veyra's great cathedrals stood. Now she was ready to strike a heavy blow against the angels. A distance away from the angels' stronghold was a massive camp filled with numerous soldiers of varying races moving about, and in the center was a giant tent. Inside the massive tent, a group was standing around a table and staring down at a map of their next target, Radiant Bastion, a highly fortified city within the angels' territory. There were four figures: Rachel, Lyssara, Dreven, and Loria. Dreven was an elderly dwarven man with a long gray beard who was covered head to toe in thick armor. Standing beside him was Loria, a demonic woman covered in battle scars with a sharp look in her eyes. She had once served as a maid in the Demon Lord's castle, but after the battle of the Demon Lord's castle, where many of her friends had died, she chose to follow Rachel and take up arms. Over the years, she proved herself time and time again on the battlefield, rising through the ranks until she became one of the lead commanders in Rachel's army. The group stood around the map as they discussed the upcoming attack. "Are you sure we should be attacking this city?" Dreven asked. "Wouldn't it be wiser to attack the weaker cities around it first?" "I agree," Loria said. "This city is like a fortress. If we can't take it quickly enough, the surrounding cities will have time to gather their forces and push us back, causing us to lose the ground we've already gained." "No, we must take this one," Lyssara said. "From the information Sophie provided us, this city is extremely important to the angels. Not only does it house one of Goddess Veyra's grand cathedrals, but it also contains a prayer statue. If we can take this city and destroy that statue, causing all the power it has built up over the years to be lost, it will make all of our jobs much easier. They'll have one less statue to gather power from, slowing down the summoning of more heroes in the future to fight us." Dreven sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose as a slight headache began to form from the discussion. "I know. I understand how important it is to take this city, but that still doesn't explain how we're supposed to quickly siege it and overrun it before reinforcements from the surrounding cities arrive." "Don't worry about that," Rachel said with a confident smile. "Once I received orders to march on this city, I sent a letter home requesting aid from Ruri. With her powers helping us, taking the city will be easy." The dwarf's expression darkened. "Rachel, I don't think we should be putting our trust in that hero. Even if she defected from the angels, she could be a double agent, simply waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike us where it hurts." Rachel's expression instantly turned ice cold. She leaned forward, placing both hands on the table as she glared at the old dwarf. Her voice became cold enough to freeze the room as a faint killing intent slipped into her words. "Don't talk about things you don't understand, old dwarf." The room fell silent. "I was there. I was the one who found Ruri. So don't you dare talk badly about my friend, or we're going to start having problems. Understand?" Dreven's angry expression immediately vanished, replaced by fear. Blac
