Chapter 36: Blood and Steel Garek was looking toward Rachel after she had just massacred those soldiers. He spoke out to the group of angels around him. "Let me engage her and fight her head-on. As you just saw, she could easily wipe you guys out. So I will fight her alone. All you need to do is look for an opening, and when you see one, attack. But don't just rush in like those fools." Mana then started to gather around Garek's body as earthen armor formed around him, covering his entire body. He burst forward straight toward Rachel, where they started to exchange blows. The angels quickly fanned out, surrounding them as they looked for an opening to attack. Rachel and Garek's battle commenced as Garek tried to close the distance, but was having a hard time due to the size of Rachel's sword. Every time he went in for an attack, the massive sword would swing toward him. Each time a swing connected, it was slowly chipping away at his armor. But he knew he had to keep on the pressure, as he could hear the heavy breathing from inside her helmet. That armor may be able to grant her power and strength, but it did nothing to recover her stamina, which had been dwindling ever since the siege of the castle had started, which was the perfect opportunity to try and learn what her newfound power could do. As they fought, Rachel started to notice the hero was moving a lot better than he did when they were fighting earlier. Did the priest healing his wounds have that much of an effect, or could the gravity curse placed on him have been lifted? I just better be more careful now. He is a lot stronger than before, but why is he not going all out? Rachel glanced around, looking at the angels slowly surrounding her. So that's their plan. A small smirk formed on her face. Then the ground rumbled below her as the Hero of Earth stomped down, causing one of his favorite abilities, which he had already used on her twice, to shoot a pillar up toward her. But she would not let this ability hit her a third time. This guy is trying to use the same attack on me a third time. I am not that much of a fool. The moment the pillar shot up, she easily swiped her massive sword to the side, destroying it as it crumbled to the ground. During the swing, it left a slight opening, and a few of the angels charged forward, ready to strike at her sides and back as the angels stepped forward with swords and spears drawn. But Rachel was already ready for this, as she had many new skills at her disposal, and the only requirement was blood, and there was plenty of it on this battlefield. She never slowed down the motion of her sword after slicing through the pillar. Instead, she continued to spin with the sword in her hand as it charged with black and red cursed blood. She called out the name of a spell. "Bloodnova." She continued to spin, turning a full 360 degrees as small red and black blood slashes burst from the sword, moving around her like a small tornado of blood as they slowly expanded outward. They slashed into the charging angels. Arms, heads, legs, and bodies fell to pieces as the severed parts hit the ground one by one. The other angels, who were more cautious, took a step back after witnessing their friends fall to pieces. They stepped back and watched until the bloody tornado dissipated and vanished into thin air. But unlike the unlucky angels, Garek only took minor damage. The blood slashes were not as strong as Rachel's other attacks, so they barely penetrated his earthen armor. After the swing finished, Rachel rested the massive sword on her shoulder as the blood from the corpses drained into the blade, replenishing its reserves while also feeding the curse. Rachel then started to laugh as she spoke out to them. "Is that the best you can do, Hero? Even with your recovered strength, you're still no match for me." She charged forward with her massive sword resting on her shoulder, preparing to deliver a massive strike toward the hero. The hero then took a s
