Chapter 41: It's Not Over Yet Rachel stood there with her sword in hand and the scorched shield held in front of her as Garek and the angels slowly encroached on her, while bursts of magic and screaming angels were heard from above. Then Garek spoke. "You've already won this battle with that fairy's help, forcing us to retreat. Do you honestly think you can continue to push us and wipe us all out without that precious magical sword of yours? "But if you want to die so badly, come. Throw your life away, as our goal in coming here was to kill you anyway." Rachel smiled slightly and said, "Do you think that magical sword was my only source of power?" Blood started to leak from the cracks in her armor, pooling beneath her as it spread out just like before. Garek, now without his earth armor, and some of the angels that had seen it happen before slowly backed away, knowing what could happen as more and more blood leaked from the armor, spreading out across the area. Garek then yelled out to all the angels. "Be careful. If you attack her, she can cause spikes to appear from the blood, so be cautious and be prepared!" As the group of angels approached her, one came charging in with his greatsword. The blood splashed beneath his feet as he swung down toward Rachel. Rachel quickly parried the blade to the side as his sword crashed into the pool of blood, causing blood to splatter in all directions. He quickly tried to pull back his blade, but before he got the chance, Rachel slammed the side of the shield into his throat, crushing it, as he collapsed to the ground gasping for air. Rachel quickly stepped back, but before she had a chance to fully retreat, an angel's spear came thrusting at her. She leaned to the left to avoid the attack, but she wasn't fast enough, and it pierced underneath her pauldron into her shoulder. Rachel quickly turned to the side while the spear still penetrated her shoulder and slammed the side of the shield into the shaft, snapping it in half. She then lunged forward with the sword in her hand, piercing through the side of the angel's armor. Blood gushed out as he collapsed to the ground. But then a sharp pain crossed Rachel's back as a sword sliced across it. Luckily, this angel wasn't nearly as strong as the others, so the blade barely penetrated her back. She quickly spun and charged forward toward that angel as he tried to back away. But Rachel was too quick. She thrust her arm forward, dropping the sword in her hand as she gripped her hand tightly around the angel's longsword crossguard, preventing him from pulling his sword back. She then slammed her shield into his wrist. A loud crack was heard as he quickly released the sword while screaming in pain. Rachel's ears twitched as she caught the sound of a charging angel coming straight from behind her. He quickly approached with his sword held high, ready for a lethal strike against her exposed back. But Rachel was already ready for it. She tightened her grip even more on the crossguard of the sword as she thrust her arm back and kicked off the bloody ground with her feet, hurling herself backward and catching the charging angel off guard. They both collided, with the momentum of their movements causing Rachel's sword to pierce straight through the angel's stomach and out through his back before the angel could even try to bring down his sword. Rachel then let go as the angel collapsed onto the bloody ground. She pulled the greatsword from his hand, ready for the next angel to approach. Then Garek yelled out, giving orders to the angels. "Keep up the pressure! She can't defend against all of you at the same time!" As more angels stepped forward, multiple angels charged at her at once. All Rachel could do was swing the greatsword she held in her right hand, waving it back and forth to keep the angels at a distance, while keeping the shield in her other hand at the ready, waiting for those who slipped past so she could deflect their attacks. Then a slight g
