Chapter 31: Relentless Pursuit Rachel stood there, facing the Hero of Earth with her blades ready, waiting for him to make the first move. The hero then spoke “where is that fairy that gave me these wounds I can smell her on you.” Rachel tightened her grip on her weapons. “I have no idea we were split up once you destroyed part of the castle.” The Hero stepped forward as the ground cracked beneath his feet. “Then it looks like I will need to get her to come to me get ready to scream for me spawn of the demon lord” He charged forward with his gigantic earthen fist flying toward her face. Instead of backing away, Rachel went low to the ground and dashed underneath his arm, slashing across the Hero of Earth's side. She quickly turned around, ready to make a second attack, until the Hero turned quickly and his tail slammed into her side. The impact sent her flying across the room. She rolled across the ground before quickly scrambling back to her feet. Rachel grimaced in pain, realizing the hit had cracked a few of her ribs. She glanced toward the Hero. The attack she had landed didn't seem to do a thing. Her blades had penetrated the armor, but they hadn't broken through his skin. Rachel settled back into her stance, ready for the next clash. But she didn't even have time to do that. The moment she steadied herself, the Hero was already in the air, ready to bring his fist down on her. Rachel quickly jumped backward as the fist collided with the ground, cratering the stone floor beneath it. Dust, debris, and stones erupted outward, spreading throughout the throne room. Rachel shielded her face and body from the dust and rocks pelting her from the attack as she thought to herself, Damn, he's not giving me a chance to even breathe here. Well, it looks like defense won't work here with his strength. All I can try to do is fight just like him and not give him a chance to go on the offensive. But my last attack did nothing at all. He's not even bleeding. My best bet will probably be to target his bare arms. Maybe that will slow down his attacks a bit. Rachel raised her blades once more and charged straight into the cloud of dust, trying not to give him a chance to recover. She leapt forward through the dust and spotted the silhouette of the Hero. Rachel swung both blades at his arm as hard as she could before quickly spinning around and charging back in for a follow-up attack. But the moment she burst through the dust cloud a second time, the Hero grabbed her wrist. Then he flung her body like a rag doll across the hall. Rachel smashed into the wall as it cracked from the impact. Several stones came loose and fell to the ground along with her. Rachel rolled to her side and coughed up blood before weakly pulling herself back to her feet. She glanced toward the Hero of Earth as he stepped out of the dissipating cloud of dust. Rachel's eyes narrowed. The attack she had made on his arm had only left tiny scratches. Barely any blood leaked from the wounds. Damn, how hard and strong is he? Even with all the wounds Elyndra gave him, he still seems unfazed. Looks like I'm going to need to go for his vitals. She tightened her grip on both blades and charged forward once more. As Rachel closed the distance, the Hero stomped his foot into the ground, causing a shockwave of mana to surge forward through the stone floor. Then, directly beneath Rachel, a pillar of earth erupted upward. The attack slammed into her chest with tremendous force, knocking her blades from her hands and launching her through the stained-glass window in the throne room. Glass exploded outward as the shards scattered around the throne room. For a brief moment, Rachel was suspended in the air. Then gravity took hold. She came crashing down onto the second floor of the castle, smashing into a half-destroyed room that somehow hadn't collapsed yet despite all the damage the castle had sustained. Rachel lay among the rubble, gasping for air as her body ached in pain. The earth at
