Chapter 11: Demonic Humans ----- CLASH! A blazing sword clashed against Jack’s daggers. His face burned with anger as he glared ferociously at the man before him, who grinned maliciously. “Why the hell are you here?!” “Why? Are you seriously asking why at this point, little dog?” Jack couldn’t claim he didn’t know this man. A month ago, he had slaughtered Adam’s entire team inside a Dungeon after they attempted to assassinate him. Barely escaping through an Escape Stone, Adam and his last subordinate, Han, were the only survivors. Under normal circumstances, Jack would relish meeting them again. He had grown accustomed to killing those who deserved it, especially bastards like Adam. He wouldn’t mind a rematch, ensuring Adam was cut to pieces this time… except this was an urgent matter. He had to find his sister before monsters devoured her. Adam’s presence was merely a delay. “Move aside! I’ll make sure to slaughter you later!” Jack roared. His entire body exuded a dreadful Dark Aura, enveloping his surroundings as dozens of furious shadow wolves materialized, lunging at Adam with monstrous jaws. Jack aimed to distract him with these Shadow Wolves and rush to find Anna. “RAAARR!” However… “I’m not the same as before, Jacky~!” Adam laughed cynically as the Shadow Wolves attacked, biting and tearing at his body, blood pouring everywhere. Yet, unlike the agonized screams Jack expected from his victims as his powers consumed them, Adam stared directly into his eyes. FLASH! A monstrous red aura erupted from Adam’s bloodied form, his musculature visibly enhanced. He seized the Shadow Wolves, crushing them one by one as his wounds regenerated. The blood he lost transformed into red tattoos across his body, revealing the true nature of his powers. Jack quickly noticed a tattoo of a ferocious red snake with sharp fangs on Adam’s hand, connected by magical runes to the other red tattoos… These were not mere decorations. This dreadful, potent aura could mean only one thing. “You’ve become a Demonic Human?!” “Hah! Took you a while to guess, shithead.” Jack gritted his sharp fangs, his eyes glowing redder with ferocious fury. He had fought Demonic Humans before, and they were always a challenge. Their immense power couldn’t be devoured or absorbed, as the Demons they contracted claimed their souls and powers upon death, leaving nothing for him. Worse, a Demon contract often granted Humans a tremendous power boost. If they were already strong, like Adam, a B Rank Hunter, they could rise one or even two ranks higher… Adam was no longer a B Rank, easily defeated by Jack. He had likely reached A Rank, if not higher. Jack observed red scales forming over Adam’s body, his teeth morphing into sharp, snake-like fangs, and his eyes growing colder, reptilian. His tongue extended from his open maw, stretching over a meter long. “Heh! To think you’ve hoarded this kind of power all to yourself, little Jacky~! It’s not fair!” Adam laughed, vanishing in a blur of red energy. FLASH! “Huh?!” Jack was stunned as his foe moved at incredible speed, appearing behind him in seconds. He twisted his body to block the incoming blow, unleashing a barrage of attacks in response. “RAAAAH!” Adam roared, his sword swiftly imbued with red aura. Countless snakes emerged from it, merging with the weapon to enhance its attack power and weight. The tremendous blow struck Jack, hurling him back. CLAAASH! “Nnggh…!” Jack gritted his teeth, leaping away after taking the hit. His body suddenly felt weaker. The attack was relatively weak, but something lingered… His eyes widened as his body grew heavier, breathing becoming labored. “Did you feel it? I went easy on you because I want to see you struggle in agony, Jacky~” “Venom…?” Jack vomited a mouthful of blood, his body weakening further. He activated his Venom and Poison Resistance abilities, but they only mitigated the effects slightly. The venom persisted. “It’s not working…?” “Hah! Do you truly believe you can counter the v
