Nate surveyed his work on the Solaris as Fricklings crawled all over its surface searching for defects. “It looks and feels like an entirely new ship,” said Frick from where he stood next to Nate. Nate simply nodded, his eyes swirling with rainbows as he did his own assessment of the new and improved Solaris. The ship was still made of mythic-tier wood, but that was where the similarities ended. While Nate could survive easily enough in space, not everyone's Paths were designed to handle it. Since the ship was going to be searching planets in the Dead Realms, where no mana existed, it needed to be spaceworthy - a transport to get the team from one planet to the next. If the problem of developing a spaceship was purely scientific, Nate would’ve been clueless. However, what he did know was how to create runes with Concepts and Intent. The new Solaris no longer looked like a sailing ship. The masts and rudder were completely gone. In their place, Nate had enclosed the top deck to create an ovaloid ship. At the front was mythic-tier glass with tiny runic structures running through it. They were connected to the control panel behind it along with the pilot's chair. The new design would let them not only see where they were going but also zoom in and run various scans. Nate was willing to admit the designs weren’t all his own. Hurin Starbeard had consulted with him as well as supplying some of the Starbreaking Guild’s own runes for similar purposes. The rest of the ship was much the same, but, since the inside areas had been expanded, the rooms had been moved around, giving them a bigger cargo bay in the bottom of the ship. That also happened to be one of the two entry points, with the other on top like a submarine. The actual ship was laced with various other runecrafted creations. Thrusters built into the wood were designed to accelerate in normal space while Nate had also created a spatial rune which bent space around the ship allowing for faster than light travel. Frick had liked that one. The only problem was you couldn’t see where you were going, which is why there was a Divine-tier Spatial Portal built in to literally transport debris that passed through to behind the ship. As for weapons, Nate hadn’t bothered. The people on board the ship were the weapons, and, honestly, unless they ran into a Pillar, between the six of them they should be fine no matter who or what they encountered. “She’s a beauty,” muttered Wulfgar as he walked up from behind him. “You sure Frick has to be the pilot though?” “ Captain Frick,” stressed the little blue goblin. “And of course. I am the ship. You want to enter into my dark nooks and crannies? You gotta ask all nice like!” “Why do you always have to make it weird?” asked Nate. “He started it! Complaining about my piloting!” Nate glanced down at Frick. “They told me how you tried to ram the walls of the city Ankh’aris sent you to attack. Walls that were made of Mythic stone reinforced with enchantments empowered by ambient mana. How much of the ship did you have to reconstruct?” Frick held up his hands, “When you roll the dice, Boss, sometimes they land in your favour. Sometimes they come up showing turds.” The blue goblin paused for a moment before actually answering the question. “And besides, the soul crystal was in one piece and I had enough wood to start the restoration process. Good idea putting it in my crystal!” Nate just grunted and turned to Wulfgar. “The others going to be ready soon?” “They’re all finishing up in Etrua. Nice city, by the way.” “Good. What about you? Is your Path starting to twist towards something a little more… palatable?” Wulfgar nodded. “With every new carving, it’s like the fears are no longer in me. They’re in my idols instead. Sounds weird since they’re all part of my blood, but it’s like they’re separate? You know? Like caged fiends… or caged nightmares I guess, just waiting to be let out. It’s finally settling. Lord Ankh’aris had to beat it into me but event
