Nate ran his hand apprehensively through his hair, staring out of the window of his room. Ten long years had passed since he had first relocated Galle. As long as the years had been, they had passed him by in a flash. In many ways, he felt he had gotten everything he had ever wanted. He had gotten to live a life with his chosen family. Kiri had finally bowed before the weight of his teasing, or simply gotten over the last of her hang ups, and married Gwen. The wedding had been a blissful experience without all the pomp and politics. As Nate had warned her, Camilla had even officiated the ceremony, dunking both the lovely brides in the ocean to symbolise their renewal and life together. Camilla herself had retired from being an Elder of the Eternal River Sect, though they had named her a Matriarch of the faction. She had little to do with the day to day running of the Sect, which had given her far more time to spend with Nate, work on herself, and even take on a Disciple of her own. Luci had been ecstatic to have a new friend to play with, once the girl had the early stages of a Divine Vessel and got over being chased by a several ton dragon. As for Nate’s experiments, they had only lasted for two years before the rising ambient mana concentration put Galle at risk. True to his word, he relocated the planet a second time, where it now rested in close orbit to Deep Blue of the Eternal River Sect. Nate had willingly admitted that he chose the location so Camilla could be close to the world of her birth and so they could quickly and easily jump between the two. The Source of Mana had since consumed the universe in the Wild Realms that had been closest to its aperture into their Reality. The concentration was not rising in a linear fashion, and even Ankh’aris had begun to show signs of worry. The Risen Crew, the title Fili had given to the team of herself, Hrung’Jak, Wulfgar, and Frick, hadn’t settled down at all and over the last ten years. They had all achieved their goals, set forth by Ankh’aris, of developing their Nascent Vessels. Most were either at the peak already or on the precipice. Nate had managed to get Ankh’aris alone in the early days to ask why he was pushing them so hard. The answer hadn’t surprised him. Ankh’aris knew that Nate would attempt the Pillar of Concepts in a bid to try and reverse whatever was causing mana to invade and destroy other Realities. However, Ankh also knew that claiming a Pillar that encroached on literally every other Pillar in existence would not be tolerated by those who held such lofty positions. Ankh had already begun his crusade to prepare the way for Nate’s ascension before Nate had even moved Galle. Ankh’aris wasn’t confident about killing the Luminous Crowns of the Celestial Realm, and the others had gone into hiding or marshalled their own forces while Ankh’aris was recovering. So, in his infinite draconic wisdom, Ankh’aris set out to even the scales, raising new Pillars to help defend Nate at his ascension. Luci was the first to succeed, and Nate had borne witness to what was involved in claiming a Pillar. Reality had been bent to Luci’s will as she called all that was Solar to her. The amount of Divine Energy on display reminded Nate of his battle with Belori, which had almost emptied both of their reserves. While Luci hung inside a glowing golden ball that grew until it was the size of a star, Nate had watched. It was not a fast process, and while Luci remained undisturbed, Ankh’aris had informed Nate that it would’ve taken multiple times longer if Luci had been forced to fight off other Divines at the same time. For Luci’s ascension to the Pillar of Solar, no one dared interfere. The same was not true of Kiri’s Ascension. When his sister had claimed the Pillar of Permanence, all three of the Luminous Crowns had shown up. No battle had ensued with Ankh’aris and Luci watching over her, but the intensity of the situation had been on clear display. Nate took it as a warning from th
