Nate landed lightly, looking pristine in his white, black, and purple Regalia. While he appeared unmarred, he was tired to the bone. He’d expected that when he landed Luci would charge at him, but that wasn’t the person throwing themselves at him as he landed. Camilla’s arms wrapped around him tightly as she buried her face in his shoulder, her blue hair tickling his ear. The momentary shock passed as he relaxed and put an arm around her. Looking up he saw the smirk on his sister’s lips and the raised eyebrows that indicated she wanted to tease him but was holding back. Luci had no such reservations. “Your mate was very worried about you, Uncle Nate. She was crying and crying and crying. But I knew you wouldn’t lose. No one beats Uncle Nate! Except dad…but dad beats everyone. Don’t you dad?!” stated Luci in the matter of fact tone of a child. A child that was bigger than a horse, Nate reminded himself as he looked over his own shoulder at Ankh’aris. “Indeed,” Ankh’aris agreed, his kitchen table sized yellow eyes glancing at Grommir and Prim. “Everyone.” “Understood, Patriarch of the Risen Sun,” acknowledged Grommir before glancing at the place where Belori had vanished. “I cannot help but notice though…Belori isn’t dead. Did he flee?” Nate shook his head, gently rubbing Camilla’s back as the True Divine Elder of the Eternal River Sect slowly relaxed against him. “He did not flee. He left after we reached an agreement. It’s over, Grand Marshal. Your worlds will all be returned to you within the next six months. All the ones we intended to… liberate. Belori will be commanding his forces to return to his planets within the Wild Realm.” Grommir’s face went through a series of emotions. Surprise, then shock, before settling on curiosity. “How?” asked the half-ogre. “I made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.” Camilla pulled back sharply, staring up at Nate. “You didn’t agree to go work for him did you?” Nate shook his head. “No. What I was offering was something I intended to do anyway. Let’s not worry about that for now. We won and we get the rest of your worlds without the need for more bloodshed.” Camilla smiled brightly before hugging him once more, then stepping away to make room for the others. Luci didn’t miss the chance and tried to bowl him over, but he had anchored his barrier to Space rather than a physical object. The young dragon bounced off and careened into the sand. “No fair, Uncle Nate! No fair!” Nate smiled in amusement before looking at Kiri. “Ready for a rest?” “You’re going to take a rest?” asked his sister with a facial expression that blatantly conveyed that she didn’t believe him. She wasn’t wrong. “No, but you might get one. Interested?” “Neither of you are getting a rest,” interjected Ankh’aris. “Or any of the other little ones you dragged into this Sect of yours. You made me your Patriarch and I am not about to let any of you embarrass me or my name.” Ankh’aris gave them both a pointed stare that spoke volumes of future sweat and tears. “Your… allies… can celebrate you and your victory later. You have delivered what you promised. Now it is time to focus on your next steps on your Paths. Unless they want to try demanding more of your time?” Again, Ankh’aris stared at the three True Divines. Prim and Grommir were vigorous in shaking their heads. Camilla, however, directed a thoughtful gaze at Nate. “If your Disciple has any free time, Patriarch of the Risen Sun, might I…monopolise it?” Ankh’aris snorted. “If he wants.” Ankh’aris turned as a bouncing Luci gave chase. Nate felt Space collapse as Ankh used the Concept of Change to bind two locations together. The portal ripped into being and Ankh started marching through it with Luci hot on his heels. Kiri patted Nate on the shoulder as she walked past, still covered in blood. Nate glanced back at Camilla. “The Risen Mountain is still on Eternia. I’ll find some time.” Her bright smile in response left a flutter in his heart before he turned and followed the other
