Some time ago. Liang Shen turned his head toward her. “Come again?” “Well, while I was inside the medical room, I noticed a machine similar to one from the hospital my brother is staying at,” Liesel replied. “If I remember correctly, it was used to check the Aspect within someone, or something like that.” Liang Shen remained silent as he took in her words. “H-hey! I’m not lying, okay?” Liang Shen shook his head. “No, it was helpful.” He then walked toward the medical room and tried to open it, but the door didn’t move. “So this confirms it,” Liang Shen thought. There was a clear connection between the school doctor and that delivery man. “We have two suspects to deal with here. What to do…” He sighed. Breaking the door and walking inside might activate the school emergency system, which would cause more trouble for them. Liesel looked at Liang Shen, who was just standing there with his hand on the door handle. “Is the door locked?” He gave a small nod, then abruptly stepped back, his eyes locking onto the delivery man who had just walked out of the same building they were in. “Change of plan,” he muttered. “We will follow him.” Before Liesel could process it, Liang Shen moved. In one swift motion, he grabbed her by the waist, hauling her up against his side as if she weighed nothing. “What the?! Put me down!” Liesel called out. “Quiet,” he said calmly. With no hesitation or warning, Liang Shen jumped. In no time, they were out the window. Wind tore past them while the ground seemed to rush up toward them too fast, too close. This caused the paper crane to fly out of Liesel’s hand. Liesel was stunned, her eyes wide as the world in front of her seemed to tilt into chaos. But just before impact, Liang Shen twisted midair, his foot slamming against the wall. A loud thud echoed, and then they landed cleanly on the ground. Liesel’s face came inches from smashing into the concrete ground of the school. “I’m alive…?” Liesel’s thoughts stuttered as cold sweat slid down her face. She looked up at Liang Shen. “Are you craz-” Just then, he suddenly let her go. She hit the ground with a dull thud, barely catching herself before her face smashed into the concrete. The paper crane landed back on her cap. “We should get going,” Liang Shen said, already turning away. “Ugh…” Liesel groaned, pushing herself up. “What the hell is your problem?!” Liang Shen didn’t answer. He was already moving, his gaze fixed ahead. Liesel followed his line of sight and caught a glimpse of the delivery man disappearing around the back of the school. “…Seriously?” she muttered under her breath. With a sigh, she got to her feet, brushing dust off her clothes. “Next time, how about giving me a warning beforehand?” Liang Shen gave a brief nod of acknowledgement as he continued walking. Liesel frowned and quickened her pace to catch up. The two of them circled around to the back of the school. From a distance, they spotted a large van parked near the storage building. Liesel and Liang Shen crouched low inside a patch of overgrown bushes, branches scratching against their clothes. Three men stood by the van: the delivery man and two others, talking in low voices. Liesel squinted. “So… what exactly is the plan here?” Liang Shen didn’t answer immediately. His eyes stayed fixed on the men, studying their movements and the way they handled the boxes. “I believe they have the information we need,” he said calmly. Liesel blinked. “Okay. So can’t we just go over there, beat them up, and take it?” Liang Shen exhaled slowly, like he had expected that answer. “If it were that simple, I would have done it already.” He gestured slightly toward the van. “This is Upper City jurisdiction. Violence without cause is… inconvenient. We need evidence first,” he continued calmly. “Or a valid reason to act.” Liesel glanced back at the van, watching as one of the men slid open the doors. More boxes were inside. “…So what? We sneak into the van?” she said. Liang Shen nodded. There was a brief
