Liang Shen dashed through the streets, leaping from one streetlight to another at high speed. His movements were swift and light, his phone gripped tightly in his hand as he headed toward Liesel’s last known location. As he drew closer, he spotted a crowd gathering ahead. Cars and other vehicles changed direction, avoiding a section of the road. Narrowing his eyes, Liang Shen dropped down from a streetlight and pushed forward. “Excuse me.” He forced his way through the crowd until the scene came into view: a van, the same one he had seen at the school. From the outside, it looked mostly intact, except for the back doors, which had been completely blown open. Even from a distance, the bodies of two men were visible inside. Liang Shen only needed one glance to know that a fight had happened. “This girl…” Liang Shen glanced down at his phone. The tracking dot still pointed to the van. He moved forward and climbed in through the shattered back. Inside, everything was in chaos. Boxes were torn apart, tools and equipment were scattered across the floor, and debris was mixed with the unmoving bodies. He crouched and checked their condition. “Still breathing.” His attention shifted. He scanned the interior and quickly found a phone on the ground. Nearby lay her cap. Liang Shen exhaled quietly, picking up the phone before continuing his search. At the front of the van, something caught his eye: a document on the passenger seat, the same one he had read before. He grabbed it and flipped through the pages until he saw something new. “…Looks like we found what we were searching for.” A distant sound cut through the moment. Liang Shen turned his head slightly. It was the sound of S.E.C.T. vehicles, multiple of them approaching the van’s location. “This can’t be good.” He needed to find Liesel. Now. He stepped out of the van and scanned the crowd. His gaze locked onto a young woman filming the scene with her phone. He walked toward her quickly. She soon noticed him and stiffened. “Whoa, hey, stop. What the hell do you want?” the woman spoke up as she took a step back from Liang Shen. “I’m looking for someone,” Liang Shen said calmly. “A short girl with pink hair wearing an oversized hood.” The woman hesitated, clearly nervous, then nodded. “Yeah… I saw her. She was chasing someone.” She pointed down the street. “They went that way.” Liang Shen followed her direction, his expression tightening. “The Undercity entrance…” Without another word, he took off. ****** Somewhere in the city. “GET OUT OF MY WAY!” Daniel shoved past the bystanders, forcing his way through the crowded street. He ran at full speed, his feet barely touching the ground. He didn’t know where Liesel was or if she was still chasing him, but it didn’t matter. He could still feel the pressure on his back, the suffocating sense of danger that hadn’t gone away, so he kept running for his life. Behind him, or rather above him, Liesel moved across the rooftops, her eyes locked onto him like a predator tracking its prey. She was waiting for the right moment to strike, but not yet. There were too many people, too many things that would get in her way. If she wanted to kill him effectively, she would have to lure him somewhere emptier. Her gaze swept across the environment as she ran, analyzing and planning out each path. After a short time, she had a plan in mind. She accelerated, launching herself from one building to another, clearing the street below in a single leap. She chained her movements smoothly, crossing multiple rooftops before dropping down ahead of him. “Shit!” Daniel, on the other hand, had seen her midair and reacted instantly. He took a hard turn and dashed into a narrow alley before she landed on the ground. By the time Liesel jumped down, he was nowhere to be found. However, that wasn’t a problem for her. In fact, she had gotten him where she wanted him. Without hesitation, she followed him into the alley. Daniel pushed forward, his lungs burning. If he could keep
