Nathan watched in stunned silence as both Marie and Liang Shen plummeted from the second floor, surrounded by a swirling vortex of white paper. The countless paper cocoons throughout the casino suddenly unraveled at once, releasing everyone who had been trapped inside. He tore himself free from the remaining paper pinning him to the wall and shouted downward, “Armand! Target the White Crane! I’ll handle her paper cranes!” Nathan moved quickly. He used his Aspect to recall every metal feather scattered across the battlefield, pulling them back into his iron wings. Then he manifested his halberd and began rapidly charging it with electricity. With a powerful leap, he jumped down to the first floor to join the fray. While falling through the air, he pushed his Aspect to maximum output. Electricity crackled violently across his body and halberd. He swung his massive iron wings with brutal force, using the momentum to spin his entire body. Dozens of metal feathers shot outward in every direction as he descended, creating a deadly rain of spinning projectiles. The thousands of paper cranes swirling around the casino floor darted and weaved frantically to avoid them. The moment Nathan landed, he slammed the butt of his halberd into the ground and screamed, “RELEASE!!” A powerful burst of electricity exploded outward, chaining across the floor in an attempt to create a wide electromagnetic field, just like the trap he and Liang Shen had used earlier. However… nothing happened. The paper cranes continued flying freely, completely unaffected. “She must have changed their properties,” Nathan realized, gritting his teeth. “They no longer have any metal characteristics… But then what are they now?” Before he could think of a new strategy, the massive storm of paper cranes closed in on him from all directions. “Shit!” There were simply too many. Even if he fought with everything he had, he wouldn’t be able to deflect them all. In that desperate moment, he remembered how Marie had used her spinning paper cranes as a defense mechanism. However, unlike Marie’s paper cranes, he didn’t have that much control over his metal feathers. But right now, it was do or die for him. In an instant, Nathan recalled all his metal feathers. Using his halberd and his metal wings as the center, he generated a powerful localized electromagnetic field to prevent the feathers from returning to his wings. Then, with precise bursts of magnetism and electricity, he forced the feathers to push and pull against each other, creating rapid, continuous rotation. The result was surprising, to say the very least. Dozens of razor-sharp metal feathers began spinning violently around him in a tight, glowing tornado. Sparks of electricity flashed between them, forming a deadly spinning barrier. Any paper crane that dared approach was instantly shredded or fried. “It actually works!” Nathan said under his breath, a mix of excitement and disbelief in his voice. Even after years as a veteran Fixer, he felt like an amateur for not thinking of this sooner. However, the exhilaration was short-lived. His body was already beginning to feel heavy. Performing so many high-intensity, multi-layered Aspect techniques was putting immense strain on him. His Aspect relied on his physical body. If he pushed any further, he risked either complete exhaustion or dangerous overclocking. For now, he could only maintain the spinning metal feather tornado around himself and hope that Liang Shen could hold his own and that the Steel Titan could finish Marie. Armand crashed down from the shattered ceiling and landed heavily on the second floor. The moment he got to his feet, he heard Nathan shout out for him before jumping down to the first floor. “I know! You don’t have to tell me!” Armand called back. He reached for the remaining chain at his waist and pulled out a second miniature spear. He had already memorized the positions of his team. He didn’t have a perfect plan, but he had no time to hesitate.
