Liang Shen and Marie stepped out of the office, the door clicking shut behind them. As they walked into the cool morning air, his gaze settled on the car parked directly in front of the White Crane Office. Two people stood waiting beside it. One was a tall man, the other was a shorter girl with pink hair. Liang Shen immediately recognized the man. He was a long-time member of the White Crane Office, longer than even Liang Shen himself. His name was Seo Jun. Seo Jun had short, neatly styled black hair that fell in precise lines just above his brow. He wore a long brown coat that reached mid-calf, open at the front to reveal a simple black button-down shirt tucked into straight black pants. As for the girl, she seems to be a new face. Liang Shen had never seen her around before. She was shorter than Sandra, and her pink hair was pulled into a high, messy ponytail that spilled out from under a plain gray cap. A thick, fur-lined jacket in bright pink and white hung open over her frame, the hood pushed back, and sleeves rolled up slightly. Beneath it, she wore a simple white women’s tank top that clung a little from recent exertion. Black pants and heavy boots completed the look. A face mask had been tugged down to rest under her chin, revealing a faint smudge of dirt or dried blood across one cheek, it seemed to be of her own blood. She stood with her arms crossed tightly over her chest, gaze deliberately turned away from the approaching pair, posture closed off and wary. Seo Jun, who had been leaning casually back against the car door, noticed Liang Shen and Marie approaching. He straightened at once and offered a warm smile, the typical face he always wears. “You’re back earlier than expected, Marie.” He then turned to Liang Shen “I'm glad to see you still alive, Liang Shen. How was your day?” Liang Shen gave a small nod. “Like usual.” His eyes shifted to the girl standing beside Seo Jun. “So this is…” The girl didn’t respond, still looking off to the side, she seemed embarrassed by how roughed up she was Marie chimed in smoothly. “This is the girl I talked about just a moment ago, Seo Jun. How about you introduce her to Liang Shen?’ Seo Jun nodded, “Yes, this is Liesel, we met her at the Nexus Association. She asked to join our office and she passed the entrance test. Sandra met her just a moment ago, so please welcome our newest member of the White Crane Office, Liesel!” Liang Shen listened to the explanation, his gaze drifting over Liesel again, taking in the dirt smudges, the slightly rumpled jacket, the faint bruise blooming along one forearm. “Liesel, uh? Let's see…” thinking internally, Liang Shen decided to test her reaction, he shifted his attention to Seo Jun. “You beat her up good, huh?” Both Marie and Seo Jun let out soft, amused chuckles. “Hey!” Liesel finally snapped, arms still crossed tightly. “What do you mean by that? I was handling myself quite well, ok!” She sounded somewhat angry, cheeks flushing under the dirt as she glared up at him. Liang Shen, however, looked unamused. He stared down at the shorter girl with indifferent eyes. He knew exactly how capable Seo Jun was in a fight, better than most, and the evidence on Liesel’s person told a clear story. He didn’t believe her protest for a second, he merely wanted to see her reaction to get a gist of what kind of person she was. “Of course…” he drawled, the word flat and disinterested. Without giving her another glance, he turned away. He’d already pieced together the basics of her recruitment. Having another person in the office didn’t matter to him in one way or the other, as long as they didn’t get in the way of his work, he had no opinion of them. However, Liesel may be a problem. Liesel seems annoyed at his blatant dismissal. After a tense second, she spoke again, voice tight. “Whatever. Look, it was a test to see if I could join the Office, okay? So what if my performance was…a little bad? I still passed.” He turned toward Marie and Seo Jun instead. “S
