A moment ago, at the Oasis Casino, in the hallway leading to the generator room. Nathan’s small team was moving quickly toward the main casino floor. On the way, Liang Shen explained the details of what they should do once they reached the second floor. “You want me to do what?!” Nathan said, seemingly surprised by Liang Shen’s plan. Liang Shen, on the other hand, just sighed. “Can you do it?” Nathan hesitated for a moment before nodding. “I can give it a try…” After thinking for a moment, he continued, “Putting that aside, how are you so sure she’s on the second floor?” Liang Shen nodded calmly. “For you, it might seem strange that she would stay up there. But I’ve been watching her ever since she disguised herself as the waitress. Besides, there’s no reason for her to send her clone down to the first floor if her real body was already here.” Nathan nodded, now looking at Liang Shen with renewed respect. After a brief silence, he asked, “Say… why did you decide to become a Fixer in the first place?” Liang Shen remained quiet for a moment before replying, “Aren’t you also a Fixer? If you can answer why you became one, then that should be enough to answer mine.” Nathan sighed as they continued moving side by side, his voice turning bitter. “That’s not what I meant. Yes, people become Fixers for money. It’s easy to start. Anyone can do it. But not many can survive long in this line of work. Veston City is a pretty shitty place for people like you and me.” He continued, “I have a younger brother, Liang Shen. I’m willing to do anything to give him a better life than the one I had.” Nathan glanced at him. “Don’t you want the same thing for yourself? A better, more comfortable life? With your skills, why not join one of the major Associations or even the S.E.C.T.?” Liang Shen looked Nathan up and down for a moment before answering calmly, “You don’t seem to be having it that bad.” Nathan chuckled and shook his head. “Living a life where you’re nothing more than a tool to be used and discarded by others… that’s not a life worth living.” Liang Shen wanted to respond, but in the end, he remained silent. In his view, a person’s worth was determined by how the world saw them. Society was simply a system, a large machine where every individual worked together to achieve a greater goal. He didn’t treat Nathan as a leader because he personally believed Nathan was worthy of leadership. He treated him as a leader simply because someone higher up in the system had assigned him that role. No matter how one looked at it, everyone was ultimately a tool for the larger society. It didn’t matter what Nathan thought. The moment one chose to live inside this system, they had already accepted the possibility of being used and eventually discarded by those with higher power. Of course, Liang Shen understood that not everyone shared his perspective. He simply chose not to lie to himself about what that acceptance truly meant. Still, even as he said that to himself, the image of an older Ying Zheng suddenly flashed through Liang Shen’s mind. If he were here, Ying Zheng would definitely scold him for thinking that way. After all… Liang Shen quickly shook his head, pushing the memory aside. Ying Zheng was no longer by his side. Dwelling on the past would only make the present more difficult. As they continued moving through the hallway CRASH! A large wall of writhing flesh suddenly erupted from the ground, completely blocking their path forward and forcing the team to come to an abrupt halt. “What the…?” Nathan muttered, stepping closer to inspect the grotesque barrier. Liang Shen, however, remained a few steps back, carefully studying it. “I don’t think touching it is a good idea,” he warned, stopping Nathan from reaching out. Nathan paused, then took a cautious step back. “What the hell is this thing?” Liang Shen stared at the pulsating wall for a moment before shaking his head. “I don’t know. But I believe it may have something to do with the White Crane
