Ember bit her lip and grimaced. Not two minutes into their epic jailbreak, and they run into no other than Prince Falcon. Battle mage and warrior extraordinaire. “Well… you were right. He wasn’t hard to track down.” She slowly backed off into the far corner. She didn’t have her slingshot, and her combat skills were, well, nowhere near the level of the other two warriors. Her best bet was to be out of the way. Griffon’s mind raced as she looked at her opponent. The Crown Prince Alexander Falcon of Ashen. She had thought he would have gone straight to wherever they were keeping Fluke, but now he stood in front of her, tall and proud. A powerful mage, expert swordsman, and master tactician. Clad in the finest armor and with his legendary sword Skysplitter back on his left hip. She had a rain poncho and an oversized stick. Not the best odds really. She dropped low, holding her meager weapon in front of her. Keep low, force him to aim down. He probably wasn’t used to fighting smaller opponents. She shifted slightly left so she could put the wooden support beam between herself and her adversary. That would, hopefully, restrain some of his magic use. He wouldn't want to accidentally collapse the place, and that would force him into melee. She would at least have the slimmest of chance. The first move would likely decide this battle. She had to be ready for anything. She wasn’t ready for anything. His first move was so unexpected it caught her completely flat-footed. His sword never even left the scabbard. The prince had a large burlap sack in one hand, which he causally tossed at her feet. “Your seized gear is in there. I also got you two some armor meant for our younger squires. It has adjustable straps, so it should make a good fit.” He took his sword, still in his scabbard from his belt. That got Griffon to tense up, until he threw it at her. She was so shocked it bounced off her chest harmlessly and it clattered on top of the sack. “You are used to that blade, so wield it. I took a maul for me from the armory.” He tapped the blunt weapon as it hung from his waist. He moved to the other cell and casually opened it. He hadn’t seen any bodies outside, but also didn't see any blood or gore strewn about. He was still a little worried about the guards' fate when he saw them dragging the last one into the adjoining cell. But was delighted to see they were alive and mostly unharmed. The fact they spared them had raised their status in his eyes. Griffon looked up at him, and then risked a half-glance down at the supplies. “What?” she asked as she quickly reaffixed her sight on the tall crimson-haired prince even as he started to pump healing magic into the trio. She thought he was getting reinforcements, so she took a step forward. But a green hand on her shoulder stopped her. “I’m just mending the worst of their injuries. I don’t have time to fully heal them, let alone rouse them,” Alexander explained as his healing magic went over them one by one. “Thank you for not seriously hurting them. They were just doing their duties.” Ember let go of the much stronger kobold. “He was coming to free us, dunce.” She pushed past Griffon and began to dig in the sack on the floor. She found her ammo belt and fastened it around her waist with a small click. “It could be a trick!” Griffon’s eyes hadn’t left the prince. “Yeah, he’s giving us all our gear instead of smiting us, or calling the alarm. Must be a devious trick.” The goblin replied sarcastically as she checked her slingshot. “Take the win. Or better still? Take the fancy sword!” “It’s no trick,” Alexander replied firmly. Giving Griffon a weapon she was unused to, to go into battle would have been foolish. But giving her Skysplitter was just anotehr subtle way to help build some much needed trust. Trust Alexander knew he didn't deserve right now after all he had done. “Gear up fast. We need to move with haste.” He gestured with a nod to the gear. “The Wishing Stone is far too dangerous. You wer
