The Worst Kobold Chapter 34: Storyweaver Interlude #1 - Re-Introduction

Good day, everyone. It’s me, Storyweaver again. Well, I have another name, but in case you didn’t read the first book? I’m going to keep it a secret for now, so as not to spoil the plot twist. You should be reading these stories in order. But, you also might be the person who skips to the final chapter. Hey, no judgment here. Enjoy my works how you see fit. Please, have a seat and make yourself comfortable once more. If you haven’t read my first story, ‘The Worst Kobold’, then I strongly suggest you go to the library or bookstore and pick up a copy right now. While this story precedes the events of ‘The Worst Kobold’, I strongly suggest you read that one first before I start. I mean, it is the greatest story of our generation, if I do say so myself. My first story was about Fluke, the secret dragon, Griffon, the warrior kobold, Alexander Falcon, the red-headed mage prince, and Ember, the plucky goblin sidekick. The heroic tale was filled with battles, destruction, love interests, humor, and more. But? What it didn’t have enough of, was kobolds. Why if you look at your bookcase right now, I wager there is a shameful lack of kobold adventures. And we all need more kobolds in our works of fiction, don’t we? I kid, I kid. I originally planned to tell the tale of Freckles, the Ultimate Kobold. While he didn’t have to deal with anything quite as dangerous as a world-consuming elvish artifact? He still had quite the harrowing trial. One that changed him quite a bit. I mean, not as much as Fluke changed at the end of my first book. But then, few had a transformation quite as intense as Fluke did. However, after I finished my first book, many of my readers wanted to know more about what life was like for Fluke as he grew up in his clan. What challenges did he face? Who were his friends? His family? Did his secret dragon origin cause any issues to himself, to the clan in general? There were also a lot of questions about kobold life in general. How are the hatchlings raised? How did they go about their day-to-day life? What sort of social structure did they have? I realize that I had foolishly assumed many of you know more about the lives of kobolds than you actually did. A fault I place squarely on me. One has to remember, just because I am thoroughly versed in a subject, doesn’t mean everyone is. So, yes. Fluke’s life, as you can imagine, was quite hard. Even from the day he was hatched. And while there were many who made his life difficult? Like the nub-horned, tail-sucking, worthless discarded piece of scale who gave him the mocking name of Fluke? He had many friends that didn’t appear in the first story. Not that they weren’t important to him growing up. It’s just, like happens to so many hatchling friends, they moved to different jobs and positions in the Jagged Crag Clan. As sad as it can be, even the best of friends can grow apart over time. However, what you can’t take away, was the life experience you have growing up. Fluke, Griffon, and many of his hatchling brothers had quite the adventure of their own in their younger years. In fact, I do remember one oh so special event in Fluke’s life. One that ended up having a profound effect in his later years to not just him, but the entire clan. But I’ve been rambling on too long now. You’re all here, and eager for me to start. So, sit back, relax, and let me regale you with my newest story. ‘The Secret Dragon.’
