Dragons were giant mysterious beings, with as much legend surrounding them as truths. Some believed they were truly immortal beings that could not be destroyed due to their linkage to magic, any more than one could destroy all fire or shadow. Others believed they were literally born from the elements, such as the dragon of stone emerging from the ground, or the dragon of wind spawning from the eye of a hurricane. Others believe the entire kobold race is spawned from the shed scales of dragons, to rise as a sort of living golems, to serve and revere them. Why, some even argue dragons are akin to the gods themselves. That is mostly certain kobold sects, to be honest. But, today, in a small classroom deep in the Jagged Crag mine, we learn another tidbit of dragons, that no one else had ever discovered in the entire history of this world. Dragons can NOT die of embarrassment. Fluke didn’t know at this time he was one of the dragon elite though. He just thought no kobold could die of shame. Because, he was certain he would have expired a dozen times over by now. One of his best friends, through the casting of an ill-advised spell of hers, had destroyed her garments. Through more happenstance and luck, mostly bad? She was now hiding under one of his skin flaps, appearing as little more than a squirming bump. And through even more unfortunate coincidence, this just happened to be one of the days where they were learning to have a sex education class. The giant red secret dragon was actively trying to mold into the wall as their instructor, Bookbinder, droned on. Fluke never liked these classes, less because of the subject, but more because of the teasing and jeering that went on. Both during, and after, and mostly at his expense. Bookbinder tried to run a tight crew while teaching, but no kobold anywhere could stop a bunch of young teenage kobolds from snickering and making dirty jokes. What was worse, was that Fluke was in the back of the class due to his size, and many of the trouble makers were in the back rows right in front of him. Including his largest tormentor, the short, yet muscle bound Brick. Fluke turned his head slightly, coiling up similar to a house cat so his head was close to his backside. This was how he normally slept, finding it more comfortable. Today? He was taking this position for a few reasons. First? He wanted to keep ANYONE from seeing the squirming bulge hiding on his back. Having his hatchery sister being found in such a state, on top of him, would be talked about for years. Most likely, it would turn into an urban legend long after he had died, dragon lifespan or not! Second? It hid his embarrassment at being caught with Coal like this. When Instructor Bookbinder started talking in detail how eggs were made, and used the word ‘erection’, well, Fluke had heard even Coal force to stifle a giggle. He was quite certain his heart had stopped, and the only reason he was still alive was, if he died in class? They’d find Coal hiding. He certainly didn’t want that to be how he was remembered. The eulogy at his funeral would be… interesting then. Third? He could at least sort of turn away from the pointing and comments from the hatchlings close to him. Brick, and the others, have mastered the art of making gestures when the teacher’s back was turned, and of whispering just loud enough for others around them to hear, but not Bookbinder. And they darn well made sure Fluke could catch the comments. “Jerks,” Coal hissed softly, as she was catching the rude remarks floating Fluke’s way. Fluke ignored the comments, and whispered as softly as he could out the side of the mouth. “Just ignore them, I have to,” he said. He didn’t want Coal to say a word, but even in this state, he felt it would be very rude to tell her to be quiet. Especially since he was defending him. Luckily, the glamor spell he didn’t even know he had, helped to hide the true volume of his voice to others. Sometimes, the spell cast on him hiding his dra
