Miles away, on the outskirts of the Hickory Woods, was a lonely lookout tower. It was a small, wooden and ill-kept. The only use of it was when the kingdom was in high-alert of an invasion or other grand threat coming from the Spire Mountain range. Normally, it was only inhabited by the odd nesting bird. Today? It was home to a trio of some of the most powerful individuals in the land. “Warden Sala?” Morcant turned to the leader of the wardens. A tall blond woman whose blonde hair was just starting to go gray, though you couldn't easily tell with how blonde the rest of her hair was. “See anything unusual?” “Nothing of note to report.” Warden Sala had a spyglass out looking across the various paths down the mountain peak. “There’s a group of seven thugs coming down one slope who looked quite injured. Battle injuries. Probably tried to rob the wrong travelers and got more than they bargained for,” she said as she gave a quick, but precise report. “There's a small caravan of orcs blocked from coming down by a group of laborers going up on the adjacent path. They are having a rather heated argument. I can also see a goblin and kobold being carried piggyback style by another kobold. Nothing too out of the ordinary ma'am.” Prince Alexander Falcon looked across at the serious-faced Warden Sala. He had worked with her and sparred against her more times than he could count. She was the one who taught him most of tracking criminals and observing the battlefield. He considered her one of the most sharp-eyed and meticulous trackers ever. “Can you… describe the kobolds more? In detail?” Warden Sala nodded as she held up the magical infused spyglass again to her baby blue eye. She started to narrate what she was observing more precisely as ordered. “Yes, Prince Falcon. They are traveling down the mountain side rapidly. I'd estimate their speed at around twice of our best steeds, perhaps more…,” she continued describing the bizarre scene calmly. “They are approaching a turn in the path in front of the Morris Canyon. The kobold appears…Yes, he is jumping it. Probably to save time… I estimate around four hundred feet distance,” she had to pause now and then, before something of note was observed. “He cleared it easily. Very easily. He's still falling. No, it appears to be more of a sustained flight. He is traveling quite far... still going...," she narrated. She continued to watch for a good two minutes. Then five. After ten minutes, she finally continued. "And he has landed in the Altona River. All three seem to have suffered no injuries.” There was a long silence as Prince Alexander just stood slightly slack-jawed. He would assume this was a prank of sorts. But Warden Sala wasn't the jokester type and they were on an important mission. “Are you… certain there was nothing odd about all that?” Warden Sala looked up once again through the spyglass. She was concentrating hard now because she knew the prince saw something in this utterly routine scenario. She was determined to find it. ”Ahhh, yes, sir. I see it now.” Alexander let out a soft sigh as Sala understood. “The kobold, the yellow one with curved horns? It has your sword Skysplitter,” she said as she lowered the device and turned to Alexander. “Excellent eye, Prince Alexander, to have noticed that from that distance. You certainly haven't lost your observational skills.” Prince Alexander Falcon just looked across to the river. He didn't need the spyglass or any magic to enhance his vision because even from miles away he could see a massive form of crimson scaled dragon splashing merrily in the river like a bathing toddler. Its body was so large enough it could stretch across the river to both banks. It flabbergasted Alexander that Sala had to tell him which of the two ‘kobolds’ had his sword. The yellow one. Not the red one the size of a windmill. “Warden Sala,” he paused, then continued. “How fast can a kobold run?” “Top speed, no weight, a trained messenger kobold?” Sala thought for a
