As they climbed the stairs, the heroine had to lean on Cake for support. The boy didn't see any scars or blood after she got him by the bullets, but she was breathing heavily and unable to walk straight. He opened the door to his room and found Bread still sitting on the floor, not watching TV, and still without a shirt. She raised an eyebrow at the stranger. ‘The dumping failed,' he announced, dropping the suitcase near her and attempting to put the mystery girl on the couch, only to realize it couldn't comfortably fit a person lying down anymore. 'Cool?' Bread said, poking the blue case with a finger. Light was spilling out from its seams again. She gently pressed it down. Then pointed to the superhero. 'Who's your new friend?' 'She- uh- got caught up in the new curfew and-' The girl suddenly sprang to life. Her body melted out from under Cake's arm and pooled at the base of the suitcase. Bread tried to stop her from stealing it, but refused to stand up or do anything more than point her finger. In a single gray tide, the case and girl moved out the open door. Cake was slack-jawed. It happened so fast. He ran in the hallway and saw that the gray mud was circling the carpet, its path blocked by one very angry Sugar. She pointed a pink-gloved finger at the blue case and then at Cake. 'You were supposed to get rid of that,' she said, strangling the air in front of her. He who flinched at her tone. 'It got complicated? Watchout!' The mud had done enough waiting and sprang as a huge wave at Sugar. The pink girl pulled back her fist, white sparks danced across her knuckles before the girl's entire hand flashed white, her Twist engulfing the haymaker in a coat of electricity. The superhero tried to dodge, making a hole in her mud tsunami, but Sugar's electricity exploded from her hand and electrified the air itself. Lights flickered, underneath their feet the carpet singed, and the heroine was forced back into her human form. Fully knocked out this time. Caked and Sugar went back into the room, dragging a body. The mysterious hero was put up on the tiny couch. There was a quick second spent looking for extra duct tape lying around before it was used to hold the girl down. The boy doubted it would do anything to really stop her, but he wasn't going to suggest that to the fuming pink girl. Bread, unmoved and unhelpful, just cocked her head at them. 'Cool. You're back. Who's your new friend?' Chake let out a shaky sigh. If his answer didn't satisfy, Sugar was going to paralyze him, too. 'She's a thief like me. During the shootout at the mall, when I stole the suitcase, it was from someone else with a Twist like hers. She tried to take it from me again tonight, but the Family was patrolling the streets. They shot. We ran.' The tied-up girl groaned, 'who are you, people?' 'Harem,' Bread answered pocking her foot with a finger. It sank into her muddy skin, and Bread had to wipe her finger on the floor. Sugar put her first right next to her mouth. 'Move, and we'll be mopping your guts from the floor later,' she threatened. Then, with barely disguised rage, she aimed her fist at Cake. 'Why did you bring her back here instead of letting her die? Now she's our problem.' 'I couldn't just leave her!' He said, trying to use Bread as a human shield. The boy actually wasn't sure what the reason had been. Something moved inside him to save her, and it scared him. 'Yes, you can. That was totally an option. It's still not too late, actually.' The topless girl pushed up her sunglasses like a lawyer stating the obvious, 'we can't. She can talk to them. The Family. Lead them to us. Better to just keep her for the moment.' 'WE CAN'T KEEP HER!' Sugar exploded. 'SHE'S MELTING INTO THE CHAIR!' Goopy one again, it seemed that the mysterious heroine couldn't maintain her human body well and was slowly slipping out of the duct tape's hold. 'You don't even know how to close it properly,' the hero said, a little slurred. 'Suitcase is dangerous. You don't know
