Here's an explanation of the cultivation system in Unfettered. I've modified it to only show the stages that have been mentioned so far and redacted some notes about key characters. Starting from Highest to Lowest Stage. NOTE: Stages in UNDERLINE are optional realms or have certain special requirements. The Immortal Realm: The realm above the mortal realm. These practitioners cultivate Immortal Qi to proceed in cultivation. Although it is possible for those at the lesser Immortal stage to stay in the mortal world, they follow the Earth Immortal path which is equivalent to the lesser Immortal stage. The mortal world for them is extremely restrictive. It is more so for heavenly immortals, but earth immortals are only marginally stronger than those in the peak mortal realm. The requirement to advance to the next realm is to obtain comprehension of a Grand Dao and exchange Immortal Qi for Primordial Qi . Lifespan: 100,000 Years (Across all three Stages) Nascent Soul (Infant Form, Natal Qi Refinement, Reborn in the Dao) - (Confucian: Esteemed Lecturer) - (Buddhism: Arhat) Infant Form: Your Nascent soul has formed but has no substance. It is an illusory infant. Natal Qi Refinement: A true infant has Natal Qi, there are many ways to get Natal Qi at this stage but some are better than others and are also much rarer. Reborn in the Dao: This stage introduces the cultivator to the comprehension of the Dao. It is a setting of the Great Way and the Heavenly Way cannot modify this. This stage requires the cultivator to truly be reborn. They must set aside their previous thoughts and find a new way for them to progress. Once they achieve enlightenment and return their thoughts to simplicity, they have obtained their first insight into the Dao. This is where they receive their inclination toward their own Dao which will be further challenged and tempered in the Immortal Realm etc. Lifespan: 20,000 Years (Across all three stages) Golden Core (10 Stages) - (Confucian: Lecturer) - (Buddhism: Senior Monk) The Sea of Qi is compressed into a solid golden core. The core grows until it breaks like an egg, forming the Nascent Soul. The sheer amount of compressed Qi will nurture the Nascent Soul so if there's not enough accumulation, the Nascent Soul breakthrough will fail. Lifespan: 5,000 Years Foundation Establishment (10 Stages) - (Confucian: Eminent Scholar) - (Buddhism: Eminent Monk) Establishing the foundation is extremely important. At this stage, your Qi liquifies. Small pool -> Lake -> Sea. Three types of foundations (Human, Earth, and Heaven). Establishing one requires a Qi, Treasure, and comprehension.
